A.D. Police Files...
Years ago, I picked up the VHS version of A.D. Police Files...
The VHS version of the series featured a "spine scene". Considered to be a revolutionary concept at the time, when placed side by side, the cover boxes formed a scene. The cover art for the DVD version is based on the spine scene from the VHS version of the series. By the way, the music videos are accessible from the special features section of the DVD.
There is some blood and gore and some violence. All three episodes are self-contained stories set a few years before the events chronicled in Bubblegum Crisis. Beyond Leon, I'm not aware of any appearances by other characters in the Bubblegum Crisis universe.
According to the Anime Encyclopedia (Jonathan Clements and Helen McCarthy [page 48] ISBN# 1-880656-64-7):
More recently, I scored the soundtracks for File 2 and File 3 also from U.S. sources. A.D. Police Files: File 2 - The Ripper soundtrack CD has 12 tracks and I liked 3 for a total of 25%, which works out to a 2 out of 5. A.D. Police Files: File 3 - The Man Who Bites His Tongue has 10 tracks and I liked 3 for a total of 30%, which works out to a 2 out of 4. By the way, my favorite track is I'm Every Girl.
File 1A.D. Police Files is a prequel to Bubblegum Crisis and was released in 3 parts. Follow the exploits of Leon as he makes his rounds. Sorry, the Knight Sabers don't make an appearance. The music is good, but, there's not as much music in A.D. Police Files as there is in Bubblegum Crisis. My favorite song is I'm Every Girl from A.D. Police Files: File 3 - The Man Who Bites His Tongue.

There was supposed to be five episodes, but, the series was cut short. There was also a plan to revisit the Knight Sabers off-duty. But, the project was shelved and after extensive editing, it somehow became Tenchi Muyo.I used to have all three parts on VHS tape. I enjoyed the series enough that I repurchased the DVD. I gave A.D. Police Files a 5 out of 5. I've researched the soundtracks and found a source in Japan that had the soundtrack for File 2, but, they wouldn't sell to anyone outside Japan. Apparently, they had some previous problems dealing with international orders. I did, however, manage to get my hands on File 1 from a U.S. source. The A.D. Police Files: File 1 - Phantom Lady soundtrack CD has 12 tracks and I liked 8 tracks for a total of 66.6% which works out to a rating of 3 out of 4.
