A Study Of The Opening Of Bubblegum Crash...
After looping the opening theme song (Hateshinai Tabi - Hajimari no Toki aka Unending Journey - The Beginning of Time) for Bubblegum Crash for several hours (I like the song), I've decided to actually look very closely at the opening in as much detail as my humble DVD player will allow. Why? It seemed like a good idea at the time...
I used to have all three volumes on VHS. I was so pleased with the series that I repurchased it on DVD. The good thing about having it on DVD is that I can now loop the opening sequence and let it run continuously while I work.
For those of you who've always wanted to know what the billboards and other signs in the opening sequence have to say, here's my best guess... "American Popcorn", "Kinka", "140", "Weather-R", "Drug" and "Angora".
Later in the opening, between Leon loading his gun and the boomer being shot in the face, there's... "Perche", "Rad Out", "Spot Pips Inn", "Nine Tomato", "Sonodaya", "Creatre", "Sugiyama", "Wai", "Rise".
Some of the handwritten words on the paper Nene is sleeping on are... "fashion", "Studio" and "country". And, on Nene's computer "Power/Stand By".
Just after the brokerage house scene, the flying police transport shown is number 18.
Sylia's display shows some eye candy and "GI.XA4 TP88" in the top-left corner.
There are also a couple of instances of Japanese letters during the opening, but, I can't read Japanese. The first is in the opening montage of signs to the left of the "Weather-R" sign and the second is in the short montage just before the boomer shooting scene.
The Bubblegum Crash soundtrack CD has 15 tracks and I liked 8 tracks for a total of 53.3% which works out to a rating of 3 out of 4.

The resulting commotion will keep the Knight Sabers busy while the real plot unfolds. For the "Voice" has grander designs, and intends to kill 5 birds with one stone; the four Knight Sabers, and MegaTokyo's Nuclear Fusion Reactor. In order to save the city from certain vaporization, the Knight Sabers must once again face their deadliest foe -- not once, but three and a half times!
The success of [Bubblegum Crisis] spawned [a] sequel series... the three-part OVA Bubblegum Crash. After a split between Artmic and Youmex, Artmic proceeded to make a sequel on their own... Youmex promptly sued Artmic, cutting Bubblegum Crash short and tying the entire franchise up in legal issues for the next several years. Bubblegum Crash is conjectured to have been a shortened version of how Bubblegum Crisis was to end.In Bubblegum Crash, a sequel to Bubblegum Crisis, revisit the "Knight Sabers" as they reprise their role as the good guys to stand against a threat from their past. There's not as much music in Bubblegum Crash as there was in Bubblegum Crisis, but, there's still plenty of twists and turns in the story line.
