Harvest Night...

Harvest Night is a very violent and very adult title that is certainly worthy of the yellow and black warning stripes that adorn many other adult titles...
Episode 1
Rose and Poppy
There's a bridge that divides the town, separating violence from non-violence, immorality from morality, sexually abusive lifestyles from ordinary lifestyles. There's no order beyond that bridge. That's where Ryoko enters in search of her childhood friends, Masato and Honoka. What she finds there is Masato, now the leader of a gang that profits from violence and sex.

Although Masato is a capable leader, he's not without trouble. Shinji, one of his subordinates, is deceiving him, and mutiny is brewing. We also meet Lisa, Shinji's girlfriend, whose cruelty winds up killing a girl from an opposing gang...

Episode 2
Ashes in the Urn
In an attempt to enslave Ryoko and make her become one of them, Lisa and other girls try to get Ryoko to sign a contract to be a hooker, but Honoka intervenes, stopping them.

When Emi, Masato's lover, demands that Masato take action to regain control over their territory, he says he isn't interested. That night, the gang goes out to work without Masato's protection, only to have the enemy gang ambush them. The enemy gang wants revenge for the killing of their gang member...
Dear Wakaba... Now you understand what happens to those who're against us.
In the first episode of Harvest Night, Wakaba, a prostitute and gang member, finds herself in the path of an opposing gang without protection and has a very bad night. In the second episode, Lisa, the antagonist from the first episode, gets what she deserves as she finds herself suffering at the hands of Wakaba's gang. There are, of course, the requisite naughty bits. There is also a great deal of violence and bloodshed, but, surprisingly there's not much in the way of gore. There are moments where you see the weapon beforehand and the aftermath, but, some of the actual acts themselves are not shown. Overall, there is a bit more story than is really necessary, but, the series was still fairly good. I gave Harvest Night a 3 out of 5.

According to Anime News Network...
On May 20, 2005, Ken Groove sued NuTech Digital, Inc. in connection with NuTech Digital's failure to pay monies owed to Ken Groove arising out of NuTech Digital, Inc.'s distribution of numerous movie titles owned by Ken Groove. On August 13, 2004, Ken Groove received payment in the amount of $108,000 as part of its Distribution Agreement with NuTech Digital. The payment was thereafter returned unpaid due to insufficient funds. A further check was tendered by NuTech Digital to Ken Groove on November 15, 2005. That payment, in the amount of $92,000, was also returned due to insufficient funds.

On November 16, 2005, in its lawsuit against NuTech Digital, Inc., pending in the Los Angeles Superior Court, Ken Groove requested that the Court issue a Right to Attach Order for issuance of a writ of attachment to secure monies pre-judgment in the amount of $292,000.00. The Right to Attach Order arises out of NuTech Digital's failure to pay monies owed to Ken Groove from NuTech Digital, Inc.'s distribution of numerous movie titles owned by Ken Groove. NuTech Digital tendered three checks to Ken Groove totaling $292,000.00, which were delivered with insufficient funds and could not be negotiated.

The Court granted Ken Groove's application, finding that Ken Groove had a probability of success on the merits of its lawsuit. As a result, Ken Groove will immediately obtain the issuance of a Writ of Attachment, and thereafter will be undertaking efforts to levy the writ of attachment on NuTech Digital's assets, including its accounts receivables, inventory, equipment, DVD masters and any other means available under the law.
The NuTech DVDs are double sided - with the program on one side and some of the special features on the other side. I've had a peek at some of NuTech's other offerings and Harvest Night seems to be one of the better titles in their catalog. It appears that NuTech is no longer distributing Harvest Night. I'm not sure how Adult Source Media, the new distributor, is formatting the DVDs. I have, however, noticed a slight difference in the cover art for the individual volumes. In addition, NuTech had, at one time, offered Harvest Night as a two-disc set. I could be wrong, but, as near as I can tell, Adult Source Media, the current publisher, is not distributing Harvest Night as a two-disc set.
