Angel's Anime Rating Guide

Years ago, I used to have the VHS version of Roujin Z ... Written and designed by Katsuhiro Otomo - the director of the ground breaking film Akira - and featuring the top names in Japanese animation industry - Director Kirohuki Kitakubo (Patlabor - The Movie, Black Magic M66), and Animation Director Fumio Lida (Wings of Honneamise)!

Recently, I picked up Princess Resurrection ... Volume 1 No good deed goes unpunished, so when Hiro Hiyormi tries to save a beautiful young woman from certain death he ends up a bit dead himself! Now normally a corpse is a corpse, of course, of course; but when the girl you've saved is the daughter of the King of the Monsters, there's no such thing as resting in peace! Pulled back from the grave to join Hime's monstrous retinue of servants and sycophants, Hiro must NOW follow in the wake of carnage and destruction that trails his chainsaw wielding mistress as she battles the various rogue werewolves, vampires and zombies that make her life (and his post-death) a living hell! Still, while this isn't quite the afterlife Hiro was hoping for, it DOES beat that OTHER alternative, should Hime decide to stop funneling life back into his body! She's the ghoul your mother warned you about and she wants your body in PRINCESS RESURRECTION!

I picked up the Season 1 set of Spice and Wolf last week... Lawrence, a traveling merchant searching for profit, finds a naked girl with the ears and tail of a wolf asleep in his cart. Her name is Holo - a harvest goddess with an untamed beast lurking inside who longs to return to her beloved northern home. Armed with his street smarts and her animal instincts, a simple peddler and a forgotten deity begin a journey through the wild countryside. Along their path, the riches of happiness shall be reaped, even as the bankruptcy which dwells in the human heart is exposed. I've always had a soft spot for cat girls. It remains to be seen if that soft spot extends to wolf girls. I've seen a few episodes and so far, it seems fairly intriguing...

I had seen the previews and read the comments on the web regarding "Dances With Smurfs". After talking to a few people who saw the movie and were generally pleased, I decided that I would not wait until the DVD came out to see Avatar . On New Year's Day, Mom and I thought it would be a good idea to head over to our favorite local movie theater in South Philly to see the movie.
