Powerdolls...

On one of those days, when there was really nothing else, I took a chance on the VHS version of Powerdolls...
Volume 1
In 2535 A.D., after decades of oppressive policies instituted by the Terran government, the people of the colony world Omni joined together to declare their independence from the tyranny of planet Earth. Lacking an established military or specialized weapons of warfare, the Omni rebellion seemed doomed to failure. However, by adapting the robotic Power Loaders used for unloading spaceships into man-like battle tanks, the rebel forces instead introduced a whole new era of mechanized combat. Now, five years later, the future of the planet Omni rests upon a handful of young female pilots who serve in the special Detachment of Limited Line Service. Their code name: The Power Dolls. Their assignment: Blow the dam at Chateau Village!

Volume 2
Blitzkrieg
The rebellion may be over, but a new war has already begun. Thanks to the efforts of the elite Detachment of Limited Line Service task force and their advanced combat robots, peace has finally been declared in the Terran War. However a new civil war is brewing, and when a top-secret Power Loader shows up in enemy hands, only the DoLLS stand a chance of saving the day. Led by Commander Yao, the DoLLs launch an immediate offensive, but will it be too little too late? And what is the secret from Yao's past that may hold the key to victory? The heavy metal action explodes in POWER DOLLS 2!
In Powerdolls, we've got girls with guns and power suits. You would think that this would be a good start, but, unfortunately it's poorly executed. The story line is basically a condensed version of Force 10 From Navarone -- the good guys go into enemy territory to destroy a dam and generally reek mayhem and havoc on enemy forces. Eye candy does not abound in Powerdolls. In addition, the two battle sequences that exist are quite weak and the slow pace of events made it really hard for me to enjoy the feature. I used to have the first subtitled VHS volume. In the aftermath of the Ultimate Otaku Fall Cleanup, I decided not to keep it in my archive. I gave Powerdolls a 0 out of 5.
