Dead Leaves...

Dead Leaves is produced by Production IG (Kill Bill, Ghost in the Shell, FLCL) and directed by popular Tokyo artist Imaitoonz...
Dead Leaves literally resembles an abstract, full-throttle action comic leaping to life right off the page, with an extraordinary cast of characters in a comically abusive and chaotic adventure!

Pandy and Retro, two unlikely renegades, awaken naked on Earth with no recollection of their past. After embarking on a devastating crime spree for food, clothing and transportation in downtown Tokyo, they are captured by authorities and sent to the infamous lunar prison called Dead Leaves.

After a brief incarceration, they discover that the prison is really a top-secret cloning facility, occupied by villainous prison guards and deformed genetic experiments. High-speed frantic action combined with hyper-violent and semi-humorous chase scenes follow as the two decide to break out of the prison with the aid of their fellow mutant inmates.
With original character designs from Imaitoonz and Hiroyui Imaishi, the Dead Leaves animation team composed of 36 animators including Takeshi Koike (Animatrix) and You Yoshinari (Evangelion). Completing the film is a pulse pounding electronica soundtrack from Yoshihiro Ike (Blood). I'm trying to think of an animation style that is similar to this, but, nothing comes to mind at the moment. It's wild and crazy, not unlike Planet Busters aka Birth, but, even weirder.

Follow the brief, but, violent exploits of Pandy and Retro as they coat the town in blood and bullets and end up in the infamous lunar prison called Dead Leaves. The animation is crude, but, the story was actually pretty good. Lots of blood, violence, some humor and even some gratuitous naughty bits.Among the extra features on the DVD is a behind-the-scenes documentary with a truth or dare spin. According to the documentary, the animators actually included some secret naughty bits that you might not find unless you view the animation frame by frame. I gave Dead Leaves a 3 out of 5.
