Re-Kan...

In Re-Kan, we follow the adventures of Hibiki Amami and her classmates and her otherworldly ghost friends...
Narumi Inoue has a problem with the new girl in school. It's not that Hibiki Amami is impolite or a bully... it's just that she sees, speaks with, and befriends ghosts!

Now, it's at the point that when Amami's around, Inoue sometimes sees them too, spelling disaster for a girl who's terrified of anything supernatural. However, Amami's genuine kindness makes it hard for Inoue to ignore her, especially when her friends Kyoko, Kana, and Makoto, as well as the other students, have accepted Amami's habit of talking to thin air and walking around invisible obstacles.

With gentle coaxing (and the knowledge that her departed grandmother is watching over her), Inoue finds herself immersed in Amami's strange, otherworldly adventures. Fulfilling the last wishes of the dead might not be a normal after-school activity, but at least they'll always know why the ghost crossed to the other side in RE-KAN!
Re-Kan is slice-of-life comedy that happens to center on the supernatural. Although there are things that go bump in the night, there is no malice in the world envisioned in Re-Kan. Hibiki goes to great lengths to help both her human and ghost friends and her kindness and hard work are reciprocated. There is a pervasive sweetness in Re-Kan. Aside from the supernatural elements, nothing extraordinary happens in the series. Early on, Inoue ends up being the butt of many jokes as she is particularly afraid of ghosts. After a while, this joke tends to wear a bit thin.

Overall, Re-Kan started out fairly interesting, but, quickly descended into a sugar-coated monotony from which it never really recovered. I really wanted Re-Kan to be more entertaining than it actually was. Of course, there are no naughty bits, bloodshed or gore to speak of. I gave Re-Kan a 2 out of 5. Also, please note, you will have to read your anime as Re-Kan is subtitled only.
