Abominable...

This weekend, I saw the theatrical release of Abominable...
When teenage Yi (Chloe Bennet, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) encounters a young Yeti on the roof of her apartment building in Shanghai, she and her mischievous friends, Jin (Tenzing Norgay Trainor) and Peng (Albert Tsai), name him Everest and embark on an epic quest to reunite the magical creature with his family at the highest point on Earth. But the trio of friends will have to stay one-step ahead of Burnish (Eddie Izzard), a wealthy man intent on capturing a Yeti, and zoologist Dr. Zara (Sarah Paulson) to help Everest get home.
Abominable is a heartwarming tale of love, loss, friendship and family. Join Yi as she seeks to return her newfound Yeti friend to his home and family. Along the way, Yi rediscovers the importance of family and the power of friendship. Standing in the path of our brave heroes is a wealthy and obsessed explorer who has been ridiculed in the past for claiming to have encountered a Yeti and having nothing to prove his claims. Assisting the explorer is an over-zealous biologist and a small army of rent-a-cops. As this is a family-friendly feature, there is only the tiniest smidgen of red ink to be found. The feature builds to a wonderful climax as the forces of good and evil collide in a climactic battle near the end of the feature. I thoroughly enjoyed Abominable.

By the way, unlike my previous visit, the theater opened on time for our visit this weekend. I guess with Joker premiering this weekend and with a noticeable police presence outside, it was decided not to have anxious crowds waiting on the street. Mom and I arrived a bit early and were able to pick our usual seats. There were quite a few previews before the feature, but, aside from the Addams Family CG animated feature, nothing really stood out as something we needed to see right away.
