Pink Lemonade...

This post concerns Pink Lemonade, an animation project that had been in production for many years. Sadly, it appears that after years of inactivity, it may be time to acknowledge that the project is pretty much dead... sniff... sniff... ☹️ To be clear, I'm NOT in charge of this project or associated with the production in ANY way, but, I am a fan of the work of White Radish, and lately, I've been curious about the project. In case you were wondering, Pink Lemonade was described by White Radish as...
Pink Lemonade [an] upcoming 6-episode OVA series involves four girls in a complex diamond of love/hate/desire set in a galaxy far, far away, where cyberpunk action and comic relief balance with character development and pathos, and at least one "H" scene in every episode!
The White Radish Music by VAC (Vanilla Almond Creme)
By the way, White Radish did release a music CD featuring Vanilla Almond Creme, which composed the music for some of White Radish's productions. At one time, I had a link to the Vanilla Almond Creme site where some of their music was available, but, my last known link, circa 2009, is now dead. The White Radish Music CD has 18 tracks and I liked 8 tracks for a total of 38.8% which works out to a rating of 2 out of 4.

From what I've been able to establish, White Radish is a small animation studio founded by Shawn the Touched, sometime in the mid-1990s. White Radish produced a number of short animations over the years and released them on physical media and in a variety of online formats. White Radish may be best known for a selection of short animations commissioned by Drowtales in the early to mid 2000s and for anime fans of a certain age, the parody animation, Fast Food Freedom Fighters in the early-1990s. Shawn the Touched has a Youtube page where the Drowtales animations can be found. And, a Newgrounds page where some of his Flash-based animation can be found.

Pink Lemonade was intended to be a six-part OVA made by animation studio, White Radish, led by Shaawn the Touched, founder and the creative force behind the Apprentice (well, not the TV show with THAT guy, but, the animated short of the same name) and the Item, using classic themes found in traditional anime. I was very impressed by the animators' earlier efforts. I discovered White Radish years ago when I happened to pick up a compilation CD of their work released by Sakura Soft. The compilation CD included a promotional video for the Item. White Radish, on their FAQ page circa 2002, said...
Sakura Soft distributed copies of the CD-ROM before they went out of business. They did not pay me for any of the CD's sold. [Sakura Soft] sold and traded my work to pay off [their] own debts, never intending to reimburse me. ...That's the problem. It's my stolen property they're selling. I know that...J-List got a bunch of them from [Sakura Soft] as part of a debt payment, and J-List had been selling them...before I retrieved them...
And, on the CD page, also circa 2002, White Radish continued...
With the CD-ROM fiasco out in the open, I'd like to appeal to the viewers to help offset the loss of what was supposed to be a source of much-needed funds. I've received a few donations from some generous fans, and I greatly appreciate them. If anyone else would be willing to help out a small animation studio like this one, then please do.
I felt compelled to support the artists and purchased their work directly from White Radish. I even sent Shawn the Touched a donation which, at the time, was greatly appreciated. Over the years, I've picked up different products on CD, VHS, VCD, DVD-R and most recently, DVD. The quality of the VCD version wasn't so good, but, the VHS version was much better and the DVD version was even better. I've kept tabs on White Radish over the years, and their work continued to improve with the passage of time. By 2010, the last update to the Pink Lemonade Production Diary indicated that the production was a bit more than one-third complete (39.1%). Unfortunately, after a brief note concerning migration issues on the main White Radish site in 2011, there were no further updates forthcoming. On Shawn the Touched's Deviant Art page, there is a brief entry in the comments section for 2011, in which Shawn the Touched stated...
Well, I've been back in school, which has limited my time considerably.

By the way, I couldn't resist using an image from Shawn the Touched's Deviant Art page for the quote from Shawn the Touched's Deviant Art page. It seemed much more appropriate than using Shawn's profile image.

It appeared that White Radish had partnered with Drowtales in 2004 and had been commissioned to produce a handful of Drowtales animations. White Radish even used Drowtales for some of its hosting needs, but, at some point in time, the partnership ended and most of the White Radish content being hosted on Drowtales simply wasn't available anymore. So there are now, a bunch of broken links on the main page of the White Radish site. However, the Drowtales Animations along with a handful of other videos are still available on Shawn the Touched's Youtube page.

Shawn the Touched
also maintained a presence on Deviant Art where some of his White Radish related artwork, including the Pink Lemonade comics, can be found, but, his Deviant Art page has been inactive for years. In addition, Shawn the Touched maintained a presence on Newgrounds where some of his Flash-based animation can be found, but, likewise, his Newgrounds page has also been inactive for some time. Shawn the Touched had some content on the video site, Revver, but, when Revver ceased operations in 2011, the White Radish content also disappeared. Below are a handful of links to the remnants of White Radish:
It took quite a bit of digging in the depths of the Internet, but, I finally found the teaser trailer for Pink Lemonade. The teaser trailer (below) is also available on Newgrounds as a Flash animation, where Shawn the Touched described the trailer...
Malachi animated this music video as a sort of "opening animation" for an episode of Pink Lemonade. Although the characters look a little different and the backdrop is a little pulpier, it's a fun teaser for the Pink Lemonade OVA series, introducing all the major characters in a frantic flythrough!
As a side note, in researching this topic, I happened to come across a couple pieces of information that I found interesting. First, the White Radish and Pink Lemonade domains appear to have been recently renewed for another year, and, second, I came across some possible signs of life online for Shawn the Touched beyond White Radish as recent as November 22, 2017. Although, the indications of life are compelling, Shawn the Touched didn't leave any positive proof (i.e.: a reference to Shawn the Touched or a link to White Radish) to confirm my suspicions.

In closing, I would like to offer my thanks to White Radish and to Shawn the Touched, in particular, for your good work over the years. 😜
