After hundreds of lonely years of doing what he was built for, WALL-E (short for Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-Class) discovers a new purpose in life (besides collecting knick-knacks) when he meets a sleek search robot named EVE. EVE comes to realize that WALL-E has inadvertently stumbled upon the key to the planet's future, and races back to space to report her findings to the humans (who have been eagerly awaiting word that it is safe to return home). I have been eagerly awaiting the release date for WALL-E for some time now. I recorded the Starz Inside feature: A Pixar Story, which details the history of Pixar and included some previews of WALL-E. I've also been following some of the hype surrounding this movie and I'm pleased to report that WALL-E lives up to the hype. I can't wait to see it on DVD. Pixar animators love to hide character references from their earlier works in each movie that they make.
