Macross II...
Sometime ago, I picked up the VHS version of Macross II...
Back in the day, Macross II was released in a two-episode per volume format. Originally, I had two of the three subtitled VHS volumes. I wasn't very pleased with Macross II, so, I never bothered to finish watching the series. I gave Macross II a 1 out of 5.
Even though the anime wasn't as entertaining as I had hoped, the music in the Macross franchise was actually pretty good. I have the Macross II soundtrack, the Macross Plus soundtrack and music inspired by Macross 7. As it happens, the Macross II soundtrack received the lowest rating of the group at 1 out of 4, while the other entries received a 2 out of 4. The Sharon Apple CD has 4 tracks and I only liked Santi-U.
80 years have passed since the events chronicled in Macross- Do You Remember Love?. The descendants of the Zentradi/Meltrandi conflict have established a new society with the people of Earth. The U.N. Spacy force has integrated Zentradi warships into its fleet, and Zentradi and humanity peacefully co-exist.

Hibiki Kanzaki of SNN is after a story about Valkyrie ace Silvie Gena. Events in his life quickly change as an invading alien force enters the solar system. Armed with the legendary Minmei Song Attack, the Earth forces are sent to stop the invaders. Hibiki is assigned to cover the battle and encounters a mysterious and exotic alien wonan, Ishtar!

Ishtar
Hibiki returns with the beautiful micron Ishtar. Hibiki wants to teach her about human culture, but the alien warrior Feff plans to rescue her from Earth. Both Feff and Silvie follow Hibiki and Ishtar to Culture Park Plaza, the site of Earth's greatest monuments as well as the SDF-1 Macross. Ishtar is strangely drawn to the old ship, but Feff attacks before she can discover the secret of Macross...
Episode 3
Festival
Ishtar seeks to discover the truth about the legendary Super Dimensional Fortress, Macross.She and Hibiki visit the ancient battle fortress but are unknowingly followed by U.N. Spacy Valkyrie ace Silvie Gena. Later, Hibiki and Ishtar visit the annual U.N. Spacy moonbase festival to enjoy the airshow as well as the performance of singer Wendy Ryder. Who could have known the alien Marduk and their Zentradi warriors would attack in another attempt to recover Ishtar ?
Episode 4
Marduk Disorder
Hibiki is tortured and held captive by the aliens. Ishtar undergoes purification in the sacred shrine of Alus Nova. Silvie attempts a daring rescue of Hibiki, and Feff tries to save Ishtar before the cultural contaminated Marduk ship is destroyed by order of the Marduk Lord Emperor, Ingues!

The U.N. Spacy, commanded by Captain Balaze, deploys the Macross Cannon against the invading Marduk forces. During the epic battle Hibiki is imprisoned fro revealing the truth about the Marduk invasion to the public.

Silvie persuades Exxegram to let her use the Macross in a desperate assalt against the Marduk flagship. Ishtar returns to Earth and tries to discover the truth behind the power of Alus. Can Silvie, Hibiki, and Ishtar stop the insane Marduk Emperor Ingues?
