I was less than impressed with Gasaraki. I'm generally not a fan of the giant robot genre of anime, but, I thought that I might give Gasaraki a try. I've been told that it gets better later on, but, with so much anime to keep an eye on, I've found that if a series doesn't grab my attention right out of the box, very likely it won't get a second chance. At the time, Gasaraki required a commitment of eight individual volume and, unfortunately, I lost interest in the series fairly early on. Now that the Gasaraki license has been rescued and the series re-released in a convenient box set, it might be worth a second chance, but, at this stage, I think I'll just move on. On a side note, the animators used references to the Iraq war (with the names changed) to add a touch of realism to the series. Overall, I lost interest in Gasaraki and gave the series a 1 out of 5.
