Dragon Knight...
Dragon Knight seemed a lot like watching a video game and later, I discovered that it was actually based on a video game...
Anime based on video games are fairly well received in Japan as the sheer volume of material in this category will attest, but, I've found many titles in this category tend not to be very good. Video game fads are usually short-lived. So, there's usually not a lot of time to produce an animation. Given the time constraints and the usual budget limitations, the deck is stacked against the animators. Sometimes the animators can pull a rabbit out of their hats, but, more often they produce turkeys. I used to have this title on subtitled VHS. In the aftermath of the Ultimate Otaku Fall Cleanup, I decided not to keep it in my archive. I gave Dragon Knight a 1 out of 5.
Volume 1What do an enchanted sword, a dozen beautiful girls and an instant camera all have in common? They're all objects of lust for the most wayward knight to ever set forth upon the road to high adventure! When I first saw this, I thought it was cheesy, and that it was too much like watching a video game. Later, I found that Dragon Knight was in fact, based on a video game where one rescues damsels in distress and is rewarded with pictures of the aforementioned damsels in various states of undress.
What do an enchanted sword, a dozen beautiful girls and an instant camera all have in common? They're all objects of lust for the most wayward knight to ever set forth upon the road to high adventure! It's cold steel and hot babes as our morally impaired young hero must rescue the multiple damsels in distress imprisoned in an enchanted castle by an army of demons, pausing only for a quick click of his trusty camera's shutter as the young lasses struggle to cover their lithesome charms. Yea, the shining spirit of chivalry has never been so disgraced as by this knave in his endless search for fast gold and faster women... and yet, is it not possible to believe that even this rogue, this pillar of impropriety, might still discover the true meaning of the word "love", risking all his ill-got gains to save the life of the only woman who has become his friend? The tale will be told, (and even more tails exposed) in the sex, sword and sorcery romp of the year: Dragon Knight!
Volume 2
Another Knight on the Town
That not-so-noble knave who single-handedly brought about the end of the Age of Chivalry in A.D.Vision's hit video Dragon Knight is back, and this time he's on the prowl for some serious action! In Dragon Knight - Another Knight On The Town, swinging swordsman Takeru (last seen in the arms of a literal army of amorous damsels in the all-female nation of Strawberry Fields) develops a severe case of wonderlust... but when he wanders into a nearby village looking for someplace to expend all that excess lust, all he manages to do is to defeat some local bullies, rescue a young boy who turns out not to be a boy at all, and set the course for an all new adventure! With an evil wizard, an elven witch and a horned demon as adversaries, and with a princess turned pickpocket and a bold female sword slinger as his allies, this outing looks to be the wildest sword and sorcery adventure ever! He may be crude, and he's definitely lewd, but he's also a serious sword-swinging dude, and, after all, how many other epic-heroes get to start their quests in a topless bar and work their way downward? The most lecherous knight to ever become a legend in his own mind is back in the saddle again in Dragon Knight - Another Knight On The Town.
