Cyber City Oedo 808...
Sometime ago, I picked up the VHS version of Cyber City Oedo 808...
Its a nice concept that's well executed. Lots of nice visuals and battles. The first volume basically introduces the characters and shows what they're capable of (so-so) as they tackle one of those automated buildings run amok. The second features one of my favorite characters -"Goggles"- as he faces a psychic zombie-cyborg thingy. The third volume features a tale of vampires in space.
Of the three episodes, I like Psychic Trooper the best. There's just something about a middle-aged cyber punk going up against a telephathic-zombie-cyborg that appeals to me. In fact, I liked volume 2 so much, that I repurchased it on DVD. Overall, I gave Cyber City Oedo 808 a 4 out of 5.
Data 1Criminals sentenced to multiple life terms are given the opportunity to redeem themselves by catching other criminals. For each criminal they catch, a number of years are removed from their sentences. Of course, their heads will have to be wired to explode.
Virtual Death
Three paroled criminals must break into the most secure building in the city, rescue 50,000 hostages trapped inside, and eliminate the terrorists - all within 24 hours or their booby-trapped collars will explode!
Data 2
Psychic Trooper
A member of the Cyber Police has turned traitor and sold confidential data to a mysterious and dangerous customer. The trail leads Goggles and his ex-partner to MOLCOS - the military's ultimate killing machine!
Data 3
Bloodlust
Genetic researchers are turning up dead - all with mysterious wounds on their necks. Could the murderer be a... vampire? If so, what is the connection to a cryogenic suspension facility and a mysterious retro-virus?
