Amazing Nurse Nanako...

In Amazing Nurse Nanako, we follow the misadventures of Dr. Ogami, the worlds's leading surgeon, and his live-in nurse, housekeeper and troublemaker, Nanako...
Volume 1
Memories of You
"From the mind of the world's most brilliant scientist, comes the most powerful weapon of the 21st Century... Then again, maybe not. My name is Dr. Kyoji Ogami, the world's leading surgeon, scientist and bioengineer. The young lady that you see here is Nanako Shichigusa. She works for me as a nurse, housekeeper and addle-minded troublemaker. But despite Nanako's flaws, she is about to become the subject of my greatest experiment. Her simple brain will be removed and transplanted into the body of my ultimate cybernetic combat robot, the Venus 2000!!! But that's only if we can survive a vast worldwide conspiracy that starts with the U.S. military and continues throughout the highest levels of the world's major powers. Do they just want me for my brilliant intellect, or is there something else that they desire? Could it possibly be Nanako? But, what could they want with a brainless girl like her? I'm sorry... I meant to say soon to be brainless... once the operation is complete. Ha ha ha ha ha...!" - Dr. Ogami

Volume 2
Firecrackers
Tradeshows and Psychos! Dr. Ogami's new patient is accused of being a serial killer, and his blood holds far more secrets than just the truth. Meanwhile, Dr. Ogami's old rival wants nothing more than to destroy Dr. Ogami's Power Suit Prototype II at the high tech weapons exhibition, but our lovely nurse, Nanako, is inside! The patient and the rival both pursue Nanako for more than her good looks, and if she's not careful she won't be able to bounce back from their advances!

Volume 3
The Last Spiral
"Tibetian Soldiers have attacked my hospital and attempted to uncover Nanako's secret! Yet, I will not allow them to interfere with Nanako's survival so we will get to Tibet and attack their secret lab. While we may interrupt their attempt to make a clone from the Shroud of Turin, at least I may finally be able to keep my Nanako!" - Dr. Ogami
Take some Black Jack, add a little Nuku Nuku and throw in a few suggestive not-so-naughty bits and what you get is Amazing Nurse Nanako. The good doctor's plan is to scoop out Nanako's brain and put it into his revolutionary robot, but, something always seems to come up at the most unwelcome time.

In Amazing Nurse Nanako, there is a great deal of fan service, but, overall, the series cute and cuddly with lots of humor. There's no blood or gore to speak of. There is the suggestion of naughty bits, but, the overall tone is quite benign. My favorite scene occurs early in the series where Dr. Ogami makes his initial appearance and describes the ghastly things he's going to do to Nanako.

Of course, Dr. Ogami doesn't really want to do anything unspeakable to Nanako, but, he seems to take a certain amount of enjoyment in teasing Nanako. As the story unfolds, conspiracies emerge and the tone of the series becomes darker. I enjoyed the lighter, more humorous tone of the earlier episodes rather than the darker, conspiracy-filled tone of the later episodes, but, overall, the series was still very good. I gave the Amazing Nurse Nanko a 4 out of 5.
