Black Magic M-66...

Way back in the misty dawn of time, I picked up the VHS version of Black Magic M-66...
Black Magic M-66 is the exciting futuristic adventure of Sybel, a freelance video journalist who becomes involved in a dangerous military fiasco when two top-secret military android assassins, known as M-66 units, are lost. One of the deadly M-66 units escapes with a mission to eliminate Ferris, the granddaughter of its creator. Time is running out as Sybel faces the deadly M-66 android in an epic battle to save Ferris.
According to Wikipedia...
Black Magic M-66 is a cyberpunk [manga] written and illustrated by Masamune Shirow. It was first published in 1983, and later reprinted by Seishinsha in 1985. The manga was adapted as an original video animation in 1987 directed by Hiroyuki Kitakubo and Masamune Shirow. The OVA is very loosely based on one of the volumes of the manga and centers around the efforts of a female journalist named Sybel to save a young girl from an out-of-control military android created by the girl's grandfather.
Black Magic M-66 reminds me of "The Terminator". There's one amazing scene were one of the robots takes on and destroys an entire army. I really enjoy watching and re-watching this title. If you have the original (US Renditions) release, you'll find that the cover art glows in the dark. I didn't really want to support the Manga Entertainment release, but, I just couldn't resist repurchasing this title on DVD. I gave Black Magic M-66 a 4 out of 5.
