Those Who Hunt Elves...

When a spell goes awry, Those Who Hunt Elves must find five elves with pieces of that spell tattooed on their skin...
Original Series
Volume 1
Fishy Beginnings (aka Ready, Set, Strip!)
When a spell to return them goes awry, three travelers must find five elves with pieces of that spell tattooed on their skin. Junpei, the fighter, has vowed to strip every elf in the land to find the spell, which doesn't please Celcia, the elven leader and priestess who lost the spell in the first place. Junpei, Airi the clever actress, and the deadly young Ritsuko battle fishy pirates, challenge local legends and eventually con Celcia into helping them find the spell that will send them home. Hop aboard their T-74 tank and join Those Who Hunt Elves on the wildest scavenger hunt ever!

Volume 2
Big Showdowns
Those Who Hunt Elves strike a deal with an elven mayor to rid her town of an infestation of skeletons. The condition? She must get naked. What they don't know is that this clever elf has a double-cross in mind that could have really BIG consequences. Then, an elven fighter by her teacher for being cruel in battle must defeat 1000 opponents to redeem herself. And it's Junpei who becomes lucky number 1000! As preparations for the duel begin, the rest of the team wonders if the numbers on the fighter's back are really art of a curse... or a spell?

Volume 3
Magical Transformations
When the T74 runs out of fuel, Junpei, Celcia and Airi are in favor of simply abandoning it, but Ritsuko just can't do it. She stays behind as the other three investigate a town being haunted by a malevolent cat spirit. It sounds harmless enough, but nothing likes being abandoned. Afterwards, when Celcia refuses to end her association with Those Who Hunt Elves, her lieutenant resolves to unleash the most horrible spell of all time in order to stop the denuding of her people.

Volume 4
Ghostly Encounters (aka Elf Stripping for Fun and Profit)
When Those Who Hunt Elves stop to spend the night in an abandoned house, they find themselves haunted by... flowers? The legend of the mandrake root takes on a new twist in a garden of flowers whose roots are actually tiny elves! Then, Those Who Hunt Elves attempt to strip the disembodied spirit of an elf. Celcia arranges for the group to travel into the spirit world, but that means they have to leave their bodies behind. And when someone discovers their "dead" bodies, it's only fitting that they should be given a decent funeral.

Volume 5
Distressed Maidens
Penniless because Celcia lost their funds, Those Who Hunt Elves take jobs in a castle town, and Airi befriends an aspiring young dancer. Imagine her surprise when she discovers the dancer is an elf whom the rest of the team is trying to strip! Next, Those Who Hunt Elves finally meet an elf who begs to be stripped! In her towns hour of need, Milliea donned magical armor to defend her people only to discover that she is cursed to wear it forever. Who better to turn to than Those Who Hunt Elves to help her undress?

Volume 6
Final Truths
A special prosecutor is appointed to capture and try Those Who Hunt Elves for their actions. Celcia is offered a deal: cooperate, and remain the Elder of Elves. Will she sell out her friends and Junpei? Finally, court is in session, but time is running out. The longer Those Who Hunt Elves stay in the elves' world, the more their modern world is flooding into the elven world. As the trail builds to it's finale, and the worlds threaten to collide, just remember: this is one series where you can never expect the obvious!

Second Series
Volume 1
Forgive Me For Stripping You!
When the spell to return them to their home goes terribly awry, judo-jerk Junpei, Airi the actress, and rifle-ready Ritsuko must rely on the ego-maniacal elf Celcia to help them return home. Once again, they're forced to strip elves to find the magical spell-fragment tattoos that will teleport them back to earth. So join the elf hunters as they swim with sharks, search for tattoos and toilet paper, brave obnoxious bears and falling stars, and strip every elf under the sun!

Volume 2
Still Stripping After All These Years
The elves of Middle Earth never faced a foe as dangerous, as determined, as underhanded, as downright odd as Those Who Hunt Elves. Martial arts expert Junpei, superstar Airi and machine-gun toting tomboy Ritsuko continue their quest to find the fragments of the spell that will send them home. They'll strip every elf in the land if they have to, and, despite the protests of the newly naked elves, Celcia, the elves' elder, continues to help them do it. The naked truth is that if the elf hunters aren't sent back to their own world soon, both worlds may cease to exist in a bang of cosmic proportions. It's strip or be vaporized as Those Who Hunt Elves II comes to its explosive conclusion!
In Those Who Hunt Elves, three people from Earth are stranded in a world of swords and sorcery with a tank and enough firepower to level several armies. Their only hope of returning home is to recover and join fragments of a spell tattooed on the bodies of elves scattered throughout this strange world. So, as these Earthlings go about the world tearing the clothes off elves, it becomes a matter of urgency for the elves to get rid of the Earthlings. It's not one of "those" stories, but, it certainly sounds like it. Actually, there are no naughty bits and no gore. This is a very entertaining series with lots of humor, action, and goofy situations- a definite treat to watch. I used to have all six volumes of the subtitled VHS version of the first series. I enjoyed the series so much that I repurchased it on DVD.
Those Who Hunt Elves Drama Soundtrack

I've seen some of the second series and sadly, it's not quite as good as the first. The second series picks up where the first left off, but, this time around there are more fragments to find. The animation quality, which wasn't all that good to begin with, actually gets noticeably worse with the second series. Even though the second series did suck, I still gave Those Who Hunt Elves a 5 out of 5.

I picked up the Those Who Hunt Elves Drama Soundtrack which has 27 tracks. I liked 9 of those tracks which is 33.3% and results in a rating of 2 out of 4. I was hoping to find the dramatic music that plays when our heroes rush in to save the day, but, that segment is not on the CD and this is such an obscure series that I was fortunate to find anything at all.
