Dog & Scissors...

Not too long ago, Dog & Scissors came home with me...
Harumi Kazuhito was the ultimate bookworm, spending days at a time with his head buried in his beloved books, and little could make him happier than perusing the pages of his favorite author, Kirihime Natsuno. Unfortunately, Harumi's life goes to the dogs - literally - when he gets himself killed while trying to stop a robber!

Thanks to the power of a true bookworm, however, Harumi inexplicably finds himself reincarnated as a dog... which might not be so bad if dogs could read. Or if the woman who adopts him didn't have twin predilections for playing with scissors and tormenting her new pet! But what truly makes this strange reincarnation the worst of all possible worlds is that she's also his favorite author! The horror! Can Harumi find a way to live with this tantrum-throwing typist, or will her crazed clippings prove to be his undoing? Can he escape her constant hounding via the doggy door, or is he barking up the wrong tree?
When I first heard about the Dog & Scissors anime, I suspected that it would be something I might want to watch. Now that I've seen the entire series, I'm very pleased. Despite the fact that sadism and masochism are significant themes in Dog & Scissors, and that the discourse between and among the main characters can be a bit risque, there are no naughty bits to speak of.

Interestingly, there is very little red ink exhibited in Dog & Scissors -- Harumi is the only character who bleeds for us and only in the first episode.

There are quite a few ancillary subtitles in Dog & Scissors and the timing on some of these subtitles is a bit faster than I would have liked. There's one notable spot where the subtitles are only on-screen for a fraction of a second. I had to rewind on quite a few occasions to catch up.

Overall, Dog & Scissors was bit on the raunchy side, so, the younger anime fans should stay away. Although, I had some difficulty keeping up with the subtitles, Dog & Scissors was very entertaining. I gave Dog & Scissors a 4 out of 5.
