I saw Sailor Moon on broadcast TV years ago...

TV Series

Season 1

Usagi Tsukino is a cheerful 14-year-old schoolgirl who often finds herself in unwanted trouble. One day, she saves a talking cat named Luna from some mean kids, and her life is changed forever. Now Usagi must work with Luna to find the other Sailor Guardians and the Moon Princess, whose Legendary Silver Crystal is Earth's only hope against the dark forces of the evil Queen Beryl!

Volume 2
Sailor Moon, Sailor Mercury, and Sailor Mars continue their quest for the Legendary Silver Crystal as two new powerful allies join the fight. Sailor Jupiter is the tall and tough Guardian of Thunder, and Sailor Venus is the Guardian of Love and the most experienced member.

Sailor Moon herself gets an impressive new power and learns more about the mysterious Tuxedo Mask. Could their distant past be intertwined, and does that have anything to do with the Moon Princess they seek? The final ordeal with Queen Beryl looms on the horizon, and it will take everything the Sailor Guardians have to be victorious!

According to The Complete Anime Guide by Trish Ledoux and Doug Ranney (page 148). ISBN# 0-9649542-5-7...
Sailor Moon is an energetic television series which traces the adventures of a gaggle of leggy schoolgirls who just so happen to have been magical princesses (from the Moon, Mars, Venus, etc.) in former lives. Their memories of previous incarnations are activated by a talking cat named Luna (who also supplies them with weapons), and they then devote their lives to defending our world from alien invaders and extradimensional menaces, in addition to their regular preoccupations with schoolwork, food and romance.

Main character Sailor Moon is an endearingly ditzy teenager with down-to-earth foibles such as laziness, hatred of studying, and preoccupations with video games and boys; her selfishness eventually gives way to a more heroic stance (though she never quite becomes a selfless paragon of virtue). Each girl transforms to her superhero outfit (a short-skirted version of the traditional "sailor suit" school uniform sported by Japanese girls) by a stock nude transformation sequence, which was gently retouched for the North American broadcast. The show formula is akin to the monster-of-the week formula employed by the masked team "ranger" or "sentai" series, where a costumed team fights (often assisted by the enigmatic, you-guessed-what-he-wears male hero Tuxedo Mask) an ever-changing variety of mutated baddies controlled by charismatic bosses.

Episodic superhero action is elevated by angst-ridden teen romance and female camaraderie; throughout five series and several movies, the "Sailor Senshi" or "Sailor Scouts" remain firm (if frequently squabbling) friends, which is a source of the series' frequent humor. Clever, amusing visual tricks and endearingly cute character designs make up for sometimes limited TV animation and frequent stock transformations.
Sailor Moon Song CD (English)
Given that Sailor Moon laid the golden eggs for its Japanese licensor, they were reluctant to tarnish the squeaky clean image held in the U.S. by careful editing and dubbing of the original series. So, for many years there was no official U.S. release of an uncut version of Sailor Moon. I've seen most, if not all of the first season on broadcast TV and I've seen a handful of episodes from the second and third seasons on dubbed VHS. At long last, Sailor Moon has been released in an uncut format. I've picked up the first half of season 1 on DVD. I watched a few episodes to refresh my memory. I still remember Sailor Moon with fondness... I gave Sailor Moon a 3 out of 5.

The Sailor Moon Song CD (English) has 11 tracks and I liked 3 tracks for a total of 27.2% which works out to a rating of 2 out of 4. By the way, my favorite song is My Only Love by Jennifer Chi.
