Boy And The Beast...

Recently, I picked up Boy And The Beast...
The Boy and the Beast is the latest feature film from award-winning Japanese director Mamoru Hosoda (Summer Wars, Wolf Children): When Kyuta, a young orphan living on the streets of Shibuya, stumbles into a fantastic world of beasts, he’s taken in by Kumatetsu, a gruff, rough-around-the-edges warrior beast who’s been searching for the perfect apprentice.

Despite their constant bickering, Kyuta and Kumatetsu begin training together and slowly form a bond as surrogate father and son. But when a deep darkness threatens to throw the human and beast worlds into chaos, the strong bond between this unlikely pair will be put to the ultimate test- a final showdown. Can the two finally work together using all of their combined strength and courage? Don't miss the critically acclaimed film The Boy and The Beast!
Boy And The Beast follows the exploits of Kyuta, a human boy, as he enters an apprenticeship with Kumatetsu, a legendary sword master in the beast world. Kyuta runs away from home and stumbles upon Kumatetsu. Kyuta immediately notices that there is something different about Kumatetsu and follows him to the beast world.

Once in the beast world, Kumatetsu and Kyuta develop a relationship. The challenging environment combined with Kyuta's desire to learn really brings out the best in both Kumatetsu and Kyuta. When Kyuta comes of age and feels a need to expand his knowledge into other areas, Kyuta returns to the human world and meets Kaede, who acts as a tutor to Kyuta.

Boy And The Beast builds to a wonderful climax as Kyuta struggles with conflicting motivations. At the same time, there is a growing threat that could negatively impact both the human and beast worlds. The feature is fast-paced and at times, a bit gut wrenching, as Kyuta struggles with powerful emotions. There is some violence in the feature. Overall, Boy And The Beast was very entertaining and I would give the feature 4 out of 5.
