Snow White With The Red Hair...

In Snow White With The Red Hair, we follow the path of Shirayuki as she endeavors to find her way in the world...
Season 1
Once upon a time in the Kingdom of Tanbarun, there lived an independent young woman with beautiful red hair. A skilled herbalist by trade, Shirayuki used her knowledge of plants and medicine to heal the people of her city. But when her apple-red hair drew the unwanted attention of the devious Prince Raj, she was left with two options become his unwilling concubine, or leave her home forever.

In the dead of night, she cut her hair and escaped to the neighboring kingdom of Clarines where she was found by a kind young man named Zen. The mysterious stranger turned out to be none other than the dashing prince of her newfound kingdom. And with his protection, Shirayuki was finally free to chase her dreams.

Now, she's set her sights on becoming a royal court herbalist and it will take a lot more than poisoned apples, scheming lords, and challenging exams to stand in her way.

Season 2
Shirayuki’s story continues in the beautifully animated second season of Snow White with the Red Hair. After Zen confessed his feelings for her, the young herbalist continued her studies and the prince doubled his efforts to keep up with her pace. But just as everything seemed to be falling into place, Shirayuki’s happily ever after is put on hold.

An old enemy has resurfaced with grave news that a mysterious boy has been searching for a girl with apple-red hair—but his intentions are unknown. With the kingdom of Clarines on high alert, an invitation arrives from Tanbarun that Shirayuki is to be the guest of honor at Prince Raj’s upcoming ball. Preparing for the boorish prince’s ball is one thing, but nothing could have prepared Shirayuki for the grander adventure to come. When the mysterious boy finally catches up with her, the beautiful maiden is swept into a harrowing journey that will put her face to face with her past as she determines what her future holds.
Snow White With The Red Hair is set in a medieval time period with knights, princes and kings. Shirayuki flees her homeland amid the unwanted advances of a member of its ruling class and through happenstance and determination, finds herself in a neighboring kingdom and in the good graces of the kingdom’s second prince, Zen. Early on, Shirayuki finds herself at the center of palace intrigue and shows her fiery red determination to prevail against all odds.

In Snow White With The Red Hair, Shirayuki is strong-willed and has a determination within her that burns as brightly as her bright red hair. Because, Shirayuki’s hair is so unusual, she is often the object of unwanted attention. Later, when the first prince, Izana, arrives, he and the girl with the apple red hair do not exactly see eye to eye, but, as it turns out, Izana is concerned about his younger brother and about his kingdom as a whole. A common theme in the series is being seen as the sort of person that someone could take pride in.

There is a little violence in Snow White With The Red Hair, but, on the whole, the series is surprisingly bloodless. There is one episode where Zen recalls a time when he misplaced his trust. When things go horribly wrong, red ink flows freely to highlight the gravity of the mistake the younger prince had made. Aside from that one incident, there is not much bloodshed or gore. So, if you're looking for more of an action adventure story, you'll be disappointed. There are, of course, no naughty bits to speak of.

Snow White With The Red Hair is a dramatic story of Shirayuki, an herbalist, as she follows the path that she is determined to follow. As she moves forward, Shirayuki inspires others around her to put their best foot forward. While there is sword-play in the series, the series does not have a lot of action and there is very little red ink. At the heart of the series is a relationship between Shirayuki and Zen. Snow White With The Red Hair is a bit melodramatic in the last few episodes, but, was a very entertaining series, overall. While not for everyone, I would give Snow White With The Red Hair a 4 out of 5.
