High School DxD...

With High School DxD, I saw scantily clad girls with wings on the cover box and thought that I should look into this series...
Season 1
A war between heaven and hell is raging on Earth - and a hot mess of hormonal fury is raging in Issei's pants. The guy is dying to get some action. Which is funny, since his first date ever turns into a winged monster and tries to kill him. Fortunately, ridiculously curvy redhead Rias comes to his rescue. She's president of The Occult Research Club, a club that doesn't actually research the occult. They ARE the occult - and Rias is a Devil.

Rias takes Issei as a more-than-willing slave and begins training him to use magic in battle against the Fallen Angels, the long-time enemies of Devils everywhere. If Issei can improve his mystical skills, he'll be able to help his hotter-than-hell master and her scorching supernatural schoolgirl friends defeat their foes. Even better, he might end up with a few sexy slaves of his own.

Season 2
New
Issei Hyodo is back with all of his voluptuous friends, only this time he has more power than ever before. With the Excalibur swords and the Archangel Michael joining him in battle against the deadliest of foes yet, only time will tell if the Occult Research Club continues to thrive or if new leadership is needed to usher in a new magical era.

Season 3
BorN
Issei and his harem of hotties are back to take on their biggest, boldest, bounciest adventure yet as they fight to prevent Ragnarok (aka the end of the underworld)!

With summer vacation just around the corner, Issei's got one thing on his mind spending sunny days with bikini-clad babes. Unfortunately, the Chaos Brigade is planning something big, and with heavy-hitters like the Norse God Loki in their corner, the House of Gremory is going to have to survive Rias' underworld boot camp if they hope to stand a chance. While they prepare, dark forces gather strength behind the scenes, Koneko's family reunion turns into a real catfight, and Asia must survive an indecent proposal from a high-ranking demon. With plenty of balls-to-the-wall battles and bare-it-all beauties, fans of High School DxD should start making room on the shelf their perfect pair is about to become a Menage a trois.
In High School DxD, we follow the carnal exploits and other misadventures of Issei, a high school pervert, who unsurprisingly has not had any success with the ladies. So, imagine his surprise, when out of the blue, a girl suddenly confesses her love and asks to be his girlfriend. And, after their first date, Issei is then murdered by his new girlfriend and finds himself embroiled in the politics of a long-running dispute between angels, fallen angels and demons. Issei is resurrected as a demon by Rias, heir the the house of Gremory. Suddenly, Issei's dream of a harem starts to come true when he finds himself at the center of a bevy of female demons with an unhealthy interest in Issie.

Our would-be hero and pervert, Issei finds himself in a perverts' paradise with the red-haired beauty, Rias and other female demons who seemingly can't keep their clothes on while in the company of Issei. Needless to say, there are copious amounts of bare skin including plenty of bare bottoms and a many, many breasts rendered with loving, almost a medical level of detail, reminiscent of Plastic Little, but, with the dial cranked all the way up past eleven to well over a hundred. I believe it's safe to say that there isn't more than five minutes between any two scenes that have some bare skin in the entire series.

There is some red ink, but, as a whole, the series is surprisingly bloodless. The series actually has quite a lot of violence which frequently involves the use of magic and magical weapons with the various combatants using video game style power-ups and in-game style move and countermoves that involve combatants calling out their moves ahead of each strike. Throughout the series, Issei, is consistently the weakest fighter, often leaping into battle and getting the snot kicked out of himself for his troubles. But, lurking beneath that perverted, clueless and limp-wristed exterior lies something special which occasionally surfaces and seems to impress the full-chested beauties that surround Issie.

The first season of High School DxD introduces many of the main characters and a handful of the recurring villains and sets up some of the politics of the series. Following a great war in which all sides in a conflict between angels, fallen angels and demons all suffered horrendous losses, the three warring factions have settled into an uneasy peace. The first season concentrates mainly on the politics of the uneasy peace and centers on a budding romance between Issei and Rias with a handful of rivals vying for Issei's attention.

The second season of High School DxD builds on the zaniness of the first season by increasing the size of Issei's harem, bringing more political maneuvers into play and revealing bigger and more powerful villains. The great crisis in the second series is the prospect of a conflict between two great dragons that could destabilize the tenuous peace, which as it happened, caused much havoc and mayhem in the last great war between the three factions.

According to Wikipedia...
The series is licensed in Australia by Madman Entertainment, but it was not released in New Zealand after the Office of Film and Literature Classification (OFLC) decided against releasing it because "it encourages and legitimizes the pursuit of young persons as viable adult sexual partners".
While I was somewhat entertained by High School DxD, I lost interest after the second season and never bothered with the third season. Given that High School DxD has a lot of fan service and includes frank dialogue and adults situations, the series is definitely NOT suitable for the younger anime fans among us, but, despite all the bare skin, there are no actual naughty bits. And while there is some action in the series, the focus of the series seems to be the relationship between Issei and Rias with supporting characters aiding to complicate Issei's life. Overall, High School DxD was entertaining, but, I lost interest after the second season. I would give High School DxD a 3 out of 5.
