Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker...

Today, Mom and I went to see the theatrical release of Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker...
While the First Order continues to ravage the galaxy, Rey finalizes her training as a Jedi. But danger suddenly rises from the ashes as the evil Emperor Palpatine mysteriously returns from the dead. While working with Finn and Poe Dameron to fulfill a new mission, Rey will not only face Kylo Ren once more, but she will also finally discover the truth about her parents as well as a deadly secret that could determine her future and the fate of the ultimate final showdown that is to come.
Tony took Mom and I to the theater today to see the latest incarnation of Star Wars featuring supposedly the last of the Skywalker saga. Tony stopped by early this morning and we had breakfast at the local golden arches. Then, we headed out the Franklin Mills Mall which for some reason that defies description, wants to be called Philadelphia Mills Mall. Thanks go to Lillian who graciously provided the free tickets and food at 50% off. We settled into our seats for the 11:00am IMAX screening. We had to use our phones for lighting as the aisle and emergency lighting were all turned off. That was a first.

Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker, follows the exploits of our heroine, Rey, as she confronts, Kylo Ren and the First Order in an epic battle to decide the fate of the galaxy. Of course, the mysterious return of Emperor Palpatine from the ruins of the Death Star in episode six of the Skywalker saga, does complicate matters. This installment moves along at a blistering pace as a great many loose ends left over from the previous installments are tied up in a nice big bow. There's a lot of action as events build to a wonderful climax as Rey confronts her darkest fears. One of the nice things about this installment is its willingness to embrace its earlier installments with a number of homages. Oh, and of course, there is the ubiquitous moment where the audience gasps as we discover Rey's lineage.

Considering that Carrie Fisher passed away, I'm quite amazed at how the producers were able to stretch her legacy footage as far as they could. I've heard some people complaining about this movie and have resisted the temptation to look at the spoilers, but, now that I've seen the movie, I think that the story has some minor issues and could have benefited from by being a five-hour feature and being shown in two parts like the last installment of the Harry Potter saga or the last installment of the Hunger Games saga. Overall, in my humble opinion, I believe the movie, as presented, was good and was entertaining in its own right, but, I would have liked to have seen a lot more.
