Iczer/Iczelion...
Long ago, when video tapes still stalked the Earth, I encountered part of the Iczer franchise when I picked up the VHS version of Iczelion...
Iczelion is Toshihiro Hirano's third "Iczer" series (not to be confused with any of the other Iczer series). No attempt is made to preserve the original story line of the earlier Iczer series, but, Nagisa (from the previous series) does make return visit from oblivion to save the day.
I'm not a big fan of giant robot shows, so, I passed on the opportunity to have the earlier Iczer series. But, I saw previews for Iczelion and it seemed fairly entertaining or at least it was unlike typical giant robot shows. I used to have the subtitled VHS version of Iczelion. I gave Iczelion a 3 out of 5. In the aftermath of the Ultimate Otaku Fall Cleanup, I decided not to keep Iczelion in my archive.
Iczer
Iczer One
Part 1
The fate of Earth lies in the hands of an immensely powerful construct called Iczer 1. With the help of a seemingly normal Earth girl and the brute strength of Iczer Robo, she battles the evil forces of Big Gold!
Part 2
In the concluding chapter of the Iczer 1 story-line, Nagisa is captured by the forces of evil in the guise of Iczer Two. Can Iczer One defeat the likes of Reddas and Blueba without her partner.
The Complete
This is the Iczer 1 "Movie" that was prepared by the Japanese some time back. It links the various parts of the Iczer 1 story together (in a slightly different order), and adds a few minutes of new footage to patch the entire thing together. It has nothing to do with Iczer 3 or Iczelion.
Iczer 3
Act 1
When Iczer 1 defeated Big Gold, she thought the universe was at last safe. Now, only the immense and untried power of the fellow construct Iczer 3 can be brought to bear as a new threat from an old enemy manifests itself!
Act 2
While spunky little Iczer 3 was off battling Neos Gold's minions, she was coming up with a way to defeat Iczer 3. Stealing enough Iczerio energy to create a new being, Neos Gold does so: Asrtos!
Act 3
Neos Gold has a problem: she's rapidly running out of minions! Astros appears to be allying herself somehow with Iczer 3, and things look bleak. There's only one thing for her to try, and it's something that almost worked the last time: The New Iczer Two!
Iczelion
From animation master Toshihiro Hirano comes the long-awaited climax to his famous Icz-series: ICZELION! Nagisa Kai is a normal girl until fate intervenes and makes her the combat partner of the intelligent alien battlesuit Iczelion! Now, together with three other young women, Nagisa must save the planet Earth from conquest and total subjugation at the hands/tentacles of an insidious army of invading aliens! Fortunately for Earth, these dynamic damsels are more than up to the task at hand... provided Nagisa can master the use of Iczelion in time! Needless to say, the aliens have the team's fledgling member targeted for instant termination, and poor Nagisa's about to get hit with everything the bad guys have got! But it's hard to hit this Miss, and it's the aliens who're going to get annihilated! It's the "Babes in Battle Armor" adventure every anime fan has been dreaming of, and, best of all, both Acts I and II are together on one deluxe videocassette! It's twice the alien-stomping action for your money, and the Earth gets saved in the bargain!
