Devil Lady...

Go Nagai, the creative force behind Kekko Kamen, presents the Devil Lady...
Volume 1
The Awakening
Jun has always been different from everyone else. The life of a fashion model is unlike anything else in the world. But she has no idea how different she is until a mysterious stalker throws her head-first into a brutal confrontation with the supernatural!

From Go Nagai, the master of animated horror, comes a harrowing odyssey through the twisted maze that is Jun's new life. By day a beautiful, shy fashion plate. By night a terrifying vision of demonic power!

Volume 2
The Becoming
Former fashion model Jun carries the Devil Beast gene, a small, microscopic speck of organic matter whose power is beyond imagination. But she is not alone-there lives among us a race of Devil Beasts. Each empowered with the ability to destroy, and each containing the ability to tear the world apart. Only a few still call themselves human. Fortunately, Jun is one of them. For now...

Volume 3
The Strengthening

Jun is desperate. Is there anyone who can tell her what is happening within her? Will anyone be able to stop her from becoming The Beast again? Each night brings Jun closer to the truth-but the truth is hard to bear. As Jun clings to the last shreds of her humanity, she discovers that she is part of a plan that threatens to erase all traces of humanity from the Earth. The clock is ticking, and darkness slowly swallows the day...

Volume 4
The Gathering

As the Devil Beasts draw together in their ultimate quest to eradicate humankind, Jun must come to grips with the beast she has become. Her human soul fights a bitter battle with her feral instincts in a last-ditch effort to defy time and destiny. The only hope the human race has against its evolutionary predators is locked away inside Jun's tormented mind. Will the salvation of the species cost Jun her life? Or a price far greater than that?

The hour of man's dominance is fading-and blood-stained fangs await their feeding...

Volume 5
The Purging

In a desperate attempt to stave off the encroaching Devil Beast incursion, mankind responds with a typically crude escalation of global military might. But man's ignorance may defeat all the grand plans of advanced technology and massive armaments.

Meanwhile, Jun, the only true hope for mankind, is on the run from those who do not understand her plight and those who understand it all too well. An enemy of both the state and the forces that seek to destroy humanity, she must surmount impossible obstacles to save civilization... and her soul.

Rumors of war are becoming fact.

Whispers in the dark draw closer.

The fetid breath of destruction warms the night.

Volume 6
The Victorious

Primeval texts speak of the time when Earth will be the staging ground for ultimate war between Good and Evil. Wild-eyed seers prophesy valleys flooded in blood and the sins of generations paid for in the carnage of twisted flesh. Terrified masses quake in anticipation of the last round in the never-ending struggle between God and Devil.

Skeptics ridicule such impassioned visions. Rational minds revolt against impossible prophecies. Academia unites to disavow these fatalistic notions.

And yet the time has come when no one can deny what is happening before his eyes. Against all reason, the terrifying events foretold in the dusty scrolls of another time are taking place all over the world. All mankind must accept the fate handed them by their unseen rulers.

Only one woman can change that fate.

Part human. Part beast. The Devil Lady.

Pray she can hold back the inevitable midnight.
There's plenty of blood and gore, a few mild naughty bits and a great heaping amount of whining. There are plenty of twists and turns in the plot mixed with monster-of-the-week action and the series ends with a nice payoff. Jun is such a whiner, though. I wasn't sure that I wanted to continue the series, but, I had faith that Go Nagai wouldn't let me down. I persevered and sure enough, I was not disappointed with the series. I have all six individual DVD volumes. I didn't like the packaging for the DVD box set. So, when the time came to give the gift of Jun to someone who really needed a little bloodshed in their life, I chose to track down the individual DVDs rather than save a little money with the box set. I gave Devil Lady a 4 out of 5.
