Cutey Honey...

Years ago, I picked up the VHS version of Cutey Honey...
Some women would kill for a perfect body. Honey has a dozen of them and everyone's trying to kill her! She's Cutey Honey; a one-woman S.W.A.T. team whose android chassis is capable of changing at will into a dazzling array of hard-hitting hard bodies, each with its own unique set of skills, weapons and other impressive physical attributes.

Anime
Volume 1

Rampant action, gobs of gratuitous nudity and ridiculously graphic violence (not to mention cybernetic senior citizens, marauding mutant motorcyclists, crazed female killers of every possible shape and size, and an innocent young male sidekick) are just the beginning! Fans of fantastic femmes will have a field day watching the luscious Honey-chan, whose incredibly classy chassis is capable of changing into a stunning array of equally heavenly bodies, each delectable design exhibiting its own unique set of skills, weapons and other impressive physical attributes. However, Cutey's not all Flash and no substance as Dolmeck and his forces of evil are about to find out. She's Cutey Honey, everybody's favorite transforming battle android and she's out to make Cosplay City a safe place to live!

Volume 2
Having already decimated the ranks of Dolmeck's henchmen, the world's most beautiful android finds herself the target of his most deadly associates! Can even Honey and the ever resourceful Hayami family withstand the concentrated onslaught of Saline, Peeping Spider and the venomous Black Maiden? Our heroine will have to grow a whole new set of bodies to meet the challenge!

Volume 3
Go Nagai's fabulous female shape-changing super-heroine is back with two all new adventures. Yes, it's Cutey Honey, that hyper-kinetic indestructible android amazon, and she has a whole new batch of lovely-but-lethal bodies to handle an all new set of ruthless shape-changing villains! Whether she's up against mad bombers, acid-spewing terrorists, female assassins or time-tripping samurai, Honey's never been hotter, and, of course, the irrepressible Grandpa Danbei and his psychopathic pack of pugilistic progeny are back as well! Former side-kick Chokei's grown up a bit, though, so now he's got a love interest of his own... it's just too bad that she's on the wrong side of the law! For demented animated action in the Go Nagai/A.D.Vision tradition, there's nothing to match the original hard hitting, heavy metal heroine herself, Cutey Honey!

Volume 4
The evil forces of Panther Zora are on the march and only one young woman stands in their way! Of course, if that young woman's a certain amazing android amazon, blessed with over a dozen lovely but lethal combat bodies, then the Armies of Darkness had better start marching awfully quietly! And if you toss in the slightly psychotic Hayami family as backup for our combative Cutey, then you'll just know that Panther Zora is cruising for a real bruising! Yes, it's two all new episodes of unmitigated and uninhibited mayhem and destruction, sixty minutes of gratuitous sex and violence in the grand old Go Nagai tradition, a double dose of dynamic damsels deliberately demolishing diabolical demagogues... but why belabor the obvious?

Live Action
Movie

Who is this mysterious buxom beauty? She's an office worker, a motorcycle racer, a street musician, a police officer, and most of all, a warrior of love. Fitted with her father's invention, the I-System, she can transform herself into anyone she wants to be. The nefarious organization called Panther Claw is kidnapping girls across Japan and stealing all of the gold and the police are powerless to stop them.

Now, their leader, Sister Jill, wants Honey's I-System neckband to revive her beauty and gain immortality. With the help of her friends, Natsuko, a hard-headed police officer, and Seiji, an easy-going reporter, Honey will prove that there's no greater power than love.

Cutey Honey - a one-woman android assault force with the ability to change her appearance at will. Set in an ultra-violent city- Cutey Honey hangs out with a gang of delinquents, changes her appearance (that's where the theme song comes in- each and every time), and matches wits with all kinds of oddball villains. It was reasonably entertaining.

Those of you who've poked around this site for while may come to believe that Cutey Honey and I are not going to be best friends - EVER! But, in truth, I don't dislike Cutey Honey. What I can't stand is her theme song! Come to think of it, the Cutey Honey theme song is, by far, one of the easiest themes to get. Even when I don't want it, I can't help but stumble across it. I gave Cutey Honey a 2 out of 5. In the aftermath of the Ultimate Otaku Fall Cleanup, I decided not to keep the anime in my archive, but, I do still have the live-action movie in my archive.
