Cat Planet Cuties...
Cat Planet Cuties was one of a handful of releases that I just HAD to have...
In Cat Planet Cuties, one of our heroines, Eris, falls out of the sky and through a series of fortunate happenstances, ends up at Kio's house. As the story unfolds, we learn that Eris is an emissary from Catia on a mission to study Earth. Before too long, in true harem-anime form, more Catians show up and Kio's life becomes more complicated as his house becomes the unofficial Catian embassy.
There are also dog planet aliens, but, the dog aliens are apparently banned from making contact with humans. Even so, that hasn't stopped the dog aliens of Dogishua from making a secret arrangement with certain human governments. So, of course, it would not be a good thing to have cat planet aliens poking around. I'll be the first to admit, it's a very silly premise, but, one has to expect a certain amount of silliness in Cat Planet Cuties.
Cat Planet Cuties does exhibit quite a lot of fan service (revealing clothing, bare breasts, bare bottoms, panty shots, suggestive dialogue and situations). You'll see a fair amount of bare skin and some nearly full frontal nudity, but, there aren't really any naughty bits to speak of.
Early on in the series, Eris discovers Kio's stash of adult reading material under his bed and passes this along to the other Catians who interpret this as a factual depiction of human life, which leads to my two favorite parts of the series. First, there's the negotiation session between a delegation of senior members of the Catian ship and a group of human representatives where the Catian representatives are all dressed in skimpy swim suits with their names written across their cleavage. And, my second favorite part is the OVA where Eris wants to survey how humans play games. Needless to say, clothing is optional.
In addition to the harem-theme and cat girls, Cat Planet Cuties, also has a decent amount of action and a lot of humor. The series is very well paced, but, not so dialogue heavy that I wasn't able to keep up with the pace. There is some violence in the series, but, surprisingly there's almost no red ink to be seen and no gore at all. Cat Planet Cuties maintains a light, fluffy and cuddly aura throughout the series even in the midst of intense battle. Some of the humor in the series is derived from homages to other TV shows and movies. You may spot one or two familiarities in the opening sequences for various episodes as well as cameos throughout the series.
There is one particularly poignant moment in Cat Planet Cuties where an early version of one on the robots the Catians employ to assist them shows up on Earth to complete the last request of her now deceased master. We learn that the back story of these robots has been quite unpleasant. Although relations between Catians and their robots are cordial at the present, some Catians are still uncomfortable around the older model of robot.
Cat Planet Cuties is certainly fairly well-endowed with curvaceous cat girls. One can expect quite a lot of fan service (including a quite a lot of bare skin). Although, there is a lot of action in the series, there is very little bloodshed and no gore to speak of. Thankfully, Cat Planet Cuties doesn't take itself very seriously. Overall, Cat Planet Cuties is cat-friendly fun and was a real treat to watch and re-watch. Still, the copious amounts of fan service make Cat Planet Cuties unsuitable for the younger anime fans among us. I give Cat Planet Cuties a 5 out of 5.
She's as frisky as she is curvy - and kitty wants to play! The flirty fun begins when nice guy Kio has a close encounter with a sexy, alien cat-girl named Eris. She's every nerd's fantasy come true, and she and her fellow intergalactic felines are setting up base in Kio's house. Unfortunately, Kio doesn't have a lot of time for heavy petting. Secret agencies and enemy dog-aliens are sniffing around, hoping to get their paws on his pussycat pal's tail! The guy's definitely got his hands full - but with Eris jumping in his lap to purr in his ear, it's likely Kio will land on his feet! After watching such fan service heavy titles as Freezing and Heaven's Lost Property, I wasn't entirely sure what to expect from Cat Planet Cuties. But, ever since I first saw All Purpose Cultural Cat Girl: Nuku Nuku, I've had a soft spot for cat girls.
