Nobunagun...

Image
I wasn't sure how to classify Nobunagun at first sight, but, I thought the series was worth watching... Sio Ogura is a shy misfit who'd rather talk about tanks than gossip about girl stuff. She's plagued by reoccurring dreams of ancient battle scenes, and her only friend is a kindhearted popular girl named Asao. But Sio's life takes an explosive turn when a school field trip is interrupted by an outbreak of Evolutionary Invaders: hideous alien creatures hell-bent on nuking the planet. During a daring attempt to rescue Asao, Sio discovers that she's an E-Gene Holder: the reincarnation of a historical figure capable of summoning special weaponry. Possessed by the spirit of legendary warrior Oda Nobunaga, Sio joins forces with the reincarnated versions of Jack the Ripper, Galileo, and Geronimo for a high octane alien shooting spree. Survival is a longshot, but in the battle to save humanity, Sio's the girl with the biggest gun! In Nobunagun , we follow the mi

High School DxD...

Image
With High School DxD , I saw scantily clad girls with wings on the cover box and thought that I should look into this series... Season 1 A war between heaven and hell is raging on Earth - and a hot mess of hormonal fury is raging in Issei's pants. The guy is dying to get some action. Which is funny, since his first date ever turns into a winged monster and tries to kill him. Fortunately, ridiculously curvy redhead Rias comes to his rescue. She's president of The Occult Research Club, a club that doesn't actually research the occult. They ARE the occult - and Rias is a Devil. Rias takes Issei as a more-than-willing slave and begins training him to use magic in battle against the Fallen Angels, the long-time enemies of Devils everywhere. If Issei can improve his mystical skills, he'll be able to help his hotter-than-hell master and her scorching supernatural schoolgirl friends defeat their foes. Even better, he might end up with a few sexy slaves of his own. Seas

Devil Is A Part-Timer...

At first glace, Devil Is A Part-Timer seemed a bit silly... When Satan is run out of his infernal kingdom, he finds himself virtually powerless in modern-day Tokyo. Stuck in a feeble mortal body and desperate for cash, there's only one way for the dark lord to survive: by getting a job manning the deep fryer at MgRonald! The devil can't survive on minimum wage! Devil Is A Part-Timer tells the story of a demon lord and one of his top generals as they try to cope with the challenges of living in the human world. There is some red ink in the beginni

Red Data Girl...

Image
I was intrigued by Red Data Girl , so, I picked up the series... Izumiko is a fifteen year old outcast who was raised in seclusion at an ancient shrine hidden deep within the forest. This mysterious teenager destroys any electrical device she attempts to use, and her painful shyness has left her with few, if any, friends. Her world begins to evolve after enrolling in Houjou Academy, a school home to students of supernatural origins. Accompanied by her fated guardian, the brooding monk-in-training Miyuki, Izumiko soon discovers the shocking truth about herself: she is a vessel for the spirt of a powerful and vengeful goddess from a time long since passed. As her bond with Miyuki grows stronger, the spirit lurking within Izumiko begins to awaken. Can this fragile beauty learn to control her newfound power - or will the secret she carries make her the enemy of all mankind? In Red Data Girl , we follow the exploits of Izumiko, as she discovers that her body is host to a being of great

Ray...

Image
In Ray , we follow the exploits of Ray, an extraordinary surgeon, as she uses her special eyes and her gifts as a surgeon to solve medical mysteries... If you have enough money, you can buy anything, so why wait for an organ you need to become available? Raised to be harvested for parts, Ray had already lost her eyes when renegade surgeon Black Jack rescued her. Now, ten years later, she has grown up to be a surgeon herself. Thanks to the unique artificial eyes she received as replacements, she has a reputation for performing incredible medical operations that no one else could even attempt. But unknown to any but a select few, her surgical endeavors are only part of a greater mission: to discover what happened to the other children she was raised with, and to find the men who stole the eyes she was born with and to bring them to justice. I wasn't entirely sure what to make of Ray , but, the series seemed intriguing, so, I thought I might investigate this a bit further. Set, sli

Image
I was revisiting Starchaser: The Legend of Orin when I realized, for some reason that defies description, I hadn't actually mentioned this feature before... After escaping the Mine-World with his weapon, Orin teams with rogue smuggler Dagg, a beautiful princess and some trusty robots on an intergalactic mission to free his enslaved people and defeat the evil Zygon! Way back in the misty dawn of time, I had seen theatrical previews for Starchaser: The Legend

Scavengers...

Image
Over the weekend, I saw the animated short, Scavengers on Cartoon Network ... According to Creator's Vice ... Stranded on an strange planet, two surviving crew members of a colonial starship perform a series of bizarre rituals using alien flora and fauna in Joseph Bennett and Charles Huettner's short film, Scavengers. Each step in the mysterious ritual prompts more questions than the last, from... What are they doing?... to... How did they learn all this stuff?... and ending with... Will I ever understand this crazy world? Scavengers tells the story of two colonists stranded on a remote planet as they perform a complicated series of interconnected tasks to achieve their goal. At the outset, the viewer does not know what the colonists are trying to do, but, by the end, there is a sense of accomplishment. At about eight minutes, the feature is fairly short, but, manages to tell a story in its own way, and does so, without any spoken dialogue. I enjoyed the feature en

An Unnecessarily Complicated Slideshow For Blogger...

Image
After watching Rail Wars , which depicts a whole host of trains and locales, I felt a need to provide some thumbnails from the series. That would mean loading 48 images every time the page is loaded, even if no one was interested in seeing all of the images. After looking into a Variety of CSS-based Slideshow Gadgets , a common theme that emerged with existing slideshow gadgets, was the need to load all of the images at one time. To keep the slideshow's footprint relatively small, I really wanted to avoid loading all of the slideshow images at one time, if at all possible. Using a Related Post gadget as a starting point, I developed the unnecessarily complicated slideshow gadget shown below that will use my own version of lazy loading to only load one image at a time and wait for the user to select the previous or next links, before loading another image: <script type="text/javascript"> var d=document; var divs; var slideshowcontent=''; var iCountDivs=0
