Angel's Anime Rating Guide

Lately, I had the opportunity to binge on Disenchantment ... After tackling modern times with The Simpsons and the future with Futurama, producer Matt Groening steps into the past with Disenchantment. The animated fantasy series geared toward adults takes place in the crumbling medieval kingdom of Dreamland. It follows the misadventures of hard-drinking young princess Bean, her feisty elf companion Elfo and personal demon Luci. The oddball trio encounters the likes of ogres, sprites, imps, trolls and human fools along the way.

I stopped by the local big box store with an asterisk on the front of the building to treat myself to Rising Of The Shield Hero ... Season 1 Volume 1 Geeky university student Naofumi Iwatani goes from second-class citizen to second-class hero when he’s summoned to the video game-like kingdom of Melromarc. Known as the weakest of four heroes, the Shield Hero, is tasked with defending the world from calamity. But when Naofumi ends up betrayed and belittled from the start, will this hero-turned-cynic still be willing to fight? Season 1 Volume 2 Journeying to a neighboring country, Naofumi and his party are framed for kidnapping princess Melty. Now on the run, Raphtalia recalls her traumatic past, Filo faces her noble destiny, and the Three Heroes Church sacrifices everything to destroy the Devil of the Shield. When a member of the royal family offers to help, will Naofumi accept it? Season 2 Learning that the kingdom's in danger, Naofumi answers the call. But before he can...

Last month, I had the opportunity to watch the first half of  Ghost In The Shell SAC_2045 . The producers are calling it season one, but, it's actually half of a story arc that is expected to span twenty-four episodes. According to Wikipedia ... In the year 2045, after an economic disaster known as the Simultaneous Global Default which destroyed the value of all forms of paper and electronic currency, the Big 4 nations of the world are engaged in a state of never-ending Sustainable War to keep the economy going. In this world, Motoko, Batou, and other members of Public Security Section 9 have contracted themselves out as mercenaries under the group GHOST , using their cybernetic enhancements and battle experience to earn a living while defusing hot-spots across the globe. However, the emergence of "Post Humans" and a conspiracy uncovered by former Chief Aramaki force Section 9 to reunite.

Sometime ago, long before the world stayed home, I went to a bookstore way out in what was recently a hot zone and picked up a handful of issues of the Harley Quinn graphic novel (the New 52 series). More recently, Harley Quinn went mainstream and after a handful of theatrical features, grew up and got her own TV series. According to Wikipedia ... The series follows Harley Quinn's adventures after she breaks up with the Joker and her attempt to join the Legion of Doom, forming her own crew consisting of Poison Ivy, Clayface, Doctor Psycho, King Shark, and Sy Borgman. When she finally achieves this goal however, she begins to distance herself from her newfound friends and still faces problems from the Joker, who refuses to accept the idea of Harley becoming a supervillain on her own.

Not long ago, I began watching The Owl House on the Disney Channel ... Self-assured teenager Luz stumbles upon a portal to a magical realm where she befriends a rebellious witch, Eda, and a tiny warrior, King; despite not having magical abilities, Luz pursues her dream of becoming a witch by serving as Eda's apprentice.

Recently, I stumbled upon a new template hidden deep in the recesses of the Blogger template gallery called Essential . Sneaking a new template into the gallery without an announcement is NOT cool Blogger Team! At first glance, Essential looks strikingly similar to Contempo , but, under the hood, they are slightly different. Informal testing using Google's Page Speed Insights utility showed about a 2% improvement in speed for Essential vs. Contempo . Some gadgets like the Report Abuse gadget have been moved out of the sidebar with Essential .

A while back, I created a gadget to convert Contempo into a Two-Column Layout . At one point, I had managed to do most of the heavy lifting using complicated CSS, but, ultimately, the CSS proved to be a bit flaky and would sometimes fail in some horribly noticeable way. One of the underlying issues was that every once in a while, an errant bold tag would show up among the post snippets and break the normal flow of the page. This errant bold tag was not noticeable in plain vanilla Contempo , but, would rear its ugly head when custom CSS was applied to post snippets that attempted to implement multiple-column layouts in Contempo using floats or other positioning techniques.

A few days ago, I stumbled into Hazbin Hotel ... Hazbin Hotel is the story of Charlie, the princess of Hell, as she pursues her seemingly impossible goal of rehabilitating demons to peacefully reduce overpopulation in her kingdom. She opens a hotel in hopes that patients will be "checking out" into Heaven. While most of Hell mocks her goal, her devoted partner Vaggie, and their first test subject, adult film-star Angel Dust, stick by her side. When a powerful entity known as the "Radio Demon" reaches out to Charlie to assist in her endeavors, her crazy dream is given a chance to become a reality.

A while ago, I devised a solution for a Missing Hamburger In The Contempo Template . Recently, someone stopped by looking for a Soho -flavored solution. For those of you who are unaware, here's a bit of background on the problem... When Blogger rolled out new templates in 2017, the navigation scheme for the new templates was a bit different. I discovered that if your screen width was below a certain width, the sidebar menu was not visible on the home page. For affected users, a "hamburger" icon on the page allowed access to the sidebar menu. However, if you navigated to a post, the hamburger icon disappeared entirely, so, those of us with screen widths below a given width, could not access the sidebar menu at all from post pages.

Today, Mom and I went to see the theatrical release of Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker ... While the First Order continues to ravage the galaxy, Rey finalizes her training as a Jedi. But danger suddenly rises from the ashes as the evil Emperor Palpatine mysteriously returns from the dead. While working with Finn and Poe Dameron to fulfill a new mission, Rey will not only face Kylo Ren once more, but she will also finally discover the truth about her parents as well as a deadly secret that could determine her future and the fate of the ultimate final showdown that is to come.
