Angel's Anime Rating Guide

The premise of Space Patrol Luluco is a bit silly, but, it also seemed like something I might enjoy... Luluco's dad has been frozen in a block of ice, and there's only one way for this middle schooler to pay for the treatment--by taking his place in the Space Patrol! It's a total pain, until she gets partnered with some perfect crush material, a.k.a. the handsome Nova from outer space. After her hometown of Ogikubo gets sucked into a black hole, it's up to Luluco and a bunch of weirdos to track it down.

With such a ridiculously long title, of course, I had to see WorldEnd: What Do You Do At The End Of The World? Are You Busy? Will You Save Us? ... Petrified for five hundred years, Willem Kmetsch wakes up to find he has nothing left in a world where his kind is extinct--a world that sees him as unnatural. To survive, Willem takes on a job as a weapons caretaker only to discover that these are something more--they're young leprechaun girls with the power to wield the mighty dug weapons, the only hope against the seventeen beasts. And they're ready to die for their purpose. A fact that doesn't sit right with Willem and leads him to care for the girls, especially the eldest, Chtholly. Soon, the girls begin to develop a desire to live and love until suddenly, something within Chtholly breaks. What happens when weapons develop a will to live, and what will happen to the world they're meant to save?

I saw Mirai ... A young boy named Kun feels forgotten by his family when his little sister Mirai arrives. Running away from home, Kun stumbles upon a magical garden that serves as a time-travelling gateway where he encounters his mother as a little girl and has a series of adventures with his baby sister, who is all grown up, opening a new perspective on his world.

Last year, I ventured out into the world of streaming anime, yet again, to see Space Bug: The Journey Home ... Space Bug: The Journey Home is about a group of insects taken up into space for use in experiments by humans. After the humans hastily abandon a space station, the insects left behind on the station embark on an epic space adventure, as they journey back home to Earth. As their journey progresses, the mystery behind humanity's sudden disappearance unravels.

I've seen  Saga Of Tanya The Evil multiple times already... A little girl with blonde hair, blue eyes, and porcelain skin fights on the front lines of a brutal war set in a fantasy world. What others don't know is that she's a reincarnated Japanese office worker who, in his former life, had a ruthless desire to climb the corporate ladder in hopes of retiring to a cushy corner office.

A while ago, I had the opportunity to see Pandora In The Crimson Shell Ghost Urn ... From Shirow Masamune, the creator of Ghost in the Shell, comes a lighthearted story of two cyborg girls who fight to save their home. Nene Nanakorobi is your typical girl next door except for that fact that she's a rare type of full-body cyborg. She's thrilled to finally meet another cyborg named Clarion and hopes they'll be best friends. This is the beginning of their adventures together.

Not long ago, I had the opportunity to see Girls' Last Tour ... The world we knew is gone. The massive cities, once filled with people, lie silent, empty and decaying. There are no more forests filled with animals; no more birds in the sky. But life hasn't disappeared completely; not just yet. Amidst the rubble two small figures, young girls, travel together, scavenging what they need to survive as they explore the remnants of a world that they are too young to remember. It's a strange journey, but one that's filled with wonder as each new day brings another discovery, another echo of the devastated past or moment of unexpected beauty. And as long as Chito and Yuuri have each other, they have a reason to keep pressing forward. As long as there's still life, there's still hope for a future.

Yesterday, I saw Mary And The Witch's Flower ... From Academy Award nominee Hiromasa Yonebayashi, director of When Marnie Was There and key animator on Spirited Away, comes the dazzling new adventure Mary and The Witch's Flower, about a young girl who discovers a flower that grants her magical powers – but only for one night. Mary is an ordinary young girl stuck in the country with her Great-Aunt Charlotte when she discovers an old broomstick and the strange flower that blossoms only once every seven years. Suddenly, Mary finds herself whisked away to Endor College – a school of magic run by Madam Mumblechook and the brilliant Doctor Dee. But the school is not all that it seems, and when Mary tells a lie, she must risk her life to try to set things right.

Recently, I saw Hells ... Rinne Amagane's first day at school really isn't working out. The other girls are ghoulish, the teachers are terrifying, and the headmaster is hellvis. No really, he's a demon in tight pants with a lust for rock 'n' roll! Nestled in the heart of Destinyland, the Sanzu River Academy might sound like fun... but it's literally Hell. And the worst part is Rinne's not dead! Or so she thinks. As she Scrambles to get back home to her mama, Rinne meets other humans like her who aren't dead yet, and then finds out that Hell itself is all topsy-turvy. And the reason why starts with the very first humans on Earth! Don't worry, though; so long as you have spirit, anything is possible!

After trawling the depths of online anime, I happened to stumble across a handful of episodes of Dogs: Stray Dogs Howling in The Dark . According to Wikipedia ... Dogs is set in a dystopic European city where violence, crime, genetic manipulation and other scientific brutalities have become common. The story focuses on four antihero protagonists who, through a series of coincidences, meet as they search for a way down to the Below, looking for answers to their individual pasts.

On the SyFy Channel , around the time that I noticed Alien News Desk , I also happened to notice Happy! ... Nick Sax is a corrupt, intoxicated, ex-cop turned hit man who is adrift in a twilight world of casual murder, soulless sex, and betrayal. After a hit goes wrong, Nick finds a bullet in his side, the cops and the mob on his tail, and a monstrous killer on the loose. But his world is about to be changed forever by a tiny, imaginary, blue-winged horse with a relentlessly positive attitude named Happy. On their journey, they must contend with a laundry list of enemies including angry mobsters, ex-mistresses, ex-wives, and one very bad Santa.

I saw the NetFlix feature, Next Gen ... A rebellious girl and a runaway combat robot unite to stop a madman's technological plan for world domination. Next Gen is an animated feature that envisions a world where technology is even more ubiquitous than it is today -- a world where artificially intelligent household robots are commonplace. Our story centers on Mai, a young girl who has developed a bad attitude after her father and mother separated. While Mai's mother has wrapped herself up with an obsession with robots, Mai spends about a third of the feature acting out all of her bad-girl instincts.

I've seen Ponyo a few times both on the local movie channel and on DVD... In Ponyo, a young boy named Sosuke rescues a goldfish named Ponyo, and they embark on a fantastic journey of friendship and discovery before Ponyo's father, a powerful sorcerer, forces her to return to her home in the sea. But Ponyo's desire to be human upsets the delicate balance of nature and triggers a gigantic storm. Only Ponyo's mother, a beautiful sea goddess, can restore nature's balance and make Ponyo's dreams come true.

My travels into the world of streaming anime continue with Eromanga Sensei ... From the author of Oreimo comes a slapstick comedy about a novelist big brother and his illustrator younger sister along with a cast of charming characters! Masamune Izumi is a high school student who professionally writes light novels. Sagiri Izumi is a shut-in who never leaves her room. One year ago, they became siblings when their parents married one another. However, one day, Masamune discovers a shocking twist -- the artist "Eromanga Sensei," who has been drawing illustrations for his novels, is none other than Sagiri. His cute little shut-in of a sister, who has been living under his roof, is using an obscene pen name and drawing lewd illustrations. But there’s no way his little sister could be this dirty?!
