Super Deformed Double Feature...

I couldn't resit picking up the VHS version of Super Deformed Double Feature...
Parody is beloved the world over, but the Japanese take it a step further. Rather than wait for others to parody them, the creators of some of Japan's finest Anime go right ahead and do it themselves, using an exaggerated, "Super Deformed" style. Prepare yourself for an assault on your funny bone as Artmic, the creators of Bubblegum Crisis, Gall Force, and Genesis Survivor Gaiarth heap up a double-dose of dementia. In 1O Little Gall Force, they take you onto the set of the Gall Force movie, as the animated characters flub their lines, the special effects guys screw up, and the director pops blood vessels. Then in Scramble Wars, characters from all the famous Artmic series join together for a twisted takeoff of the Whacky Races. Also includes live-action interviews with the creators and voice actors, as well as special "making of the songs" segments.

WARNING: Contains ridiculous nudity, silly violence, and VERY bad puns.
I enjoyed Super Deformed Double Feature a lot. It was just a lot of fun. I used to have the subtitled VHS version. Sadly, at this point, it looks like AnimEigo probably won't be releasing this on DVD. It's an older title and even when it was new, the clerk on the other side of the counter looked at me with a mix of curiosity and confusion when he read the title on the tape I was about to pay good money to have. I gave Super Deformed Double Feature a 4 out of 5.
