Bubblegum Crisis 2040...
Years ago, I picked up the VHS version of Bubblegum Crisis 2040...
I picked up three Bubblegum Crisis 2040 CDs -- two soundtrack CDs and the Collectors File 1999 CD. The Bubblegum Crisis 2040 CDs have 20, 18 and 19 tracks respectively and I liked 4, 3 and 5 tracks respectively for totals of 20%, 16.6% and 26.3% which works out to ratings of 2, 1 and 2 out of 4.
Volume 1With 26 episodes, the pace of Bubblegum Crisis 2040 is quite a bit slower than the original and the music just isn't anywhere near the standard set by the original. The character design (particularly Sylia) reminds me of characters from El Hazard. There are some nice aspects to the story-line, but, ultimately, I was disappointed in the series as a whole. I used to have the series on subtitled VHS. In the aftermath of the Ultimate Otaku Fall Cleanup I considered the prospect of not keeping the series, but, although, I had my doubts about the series, I found that I couldn't resist repurchasing the series on DVD. I gave Bubblegum Crisis 2040 a 2 out of 5.
