Heaven's Lost Property...
Yesterday, I finished watching the first season of Heaven's Lost Property...
Heaven's Lost Property (Sora no Otoshimono) is a romantic comedy fantasy circa 2009 from AIC ASTA, based on Suu Minazuki's manga.
The series is stuffed full with fan service which, at times, can be somewhat of a distraction. The animation style is consistent with many recent titles -- bright colors, crisp animation. The characters do routinely transform into a chibi-fied form at times when they're being somewhat less than serious.
Despite copious amounts of fan service, there are no actual naughty bits to speak of. Strategically placed black dots, wings or even frogs appear at every instance where there might be a loss of modesty. That being said, there is some imagery, like a flock of migrating panties or a minefield of explosive panties, that would shatter any illusion of modesty.
Even with the fan service and wanton low brow humor, Ikaros, our lead heroine, still manages to shine spectacularly throughout the series. Ikaros seems to be able to kick ass with the best the baddies have to offer, but, also manages to struggle with the concept of smiling. Ikaros, despite being rather expressionless throughout the series, shows a surprising amount of growth and development.
There's some action is the series, but, most of the series focuses around romance, drama and heaping servings of comedy to give the series a light, fluffy aura while still weaving a thin thread of dread and malevolence as we catch glimpses of the world where Ikaros came from. The series contains quite a bit of fan service and adult themes and is probably not suited for the youngest anime fans. Overall, I was quite pleased with Heaven's Lost Property and give it a 3 out of 5.
Tomoki's life was normal until a wish-granting angelic android named Ikaros fell from the sky and started calling him master! Of course, thanks to his raging teenage hormones, most of Tomoki's wishes have something to do with panties. And that makes things pretty complicated, because one simple wish can lead to a rampaging robot made out of frilly undergarments or turn bloomers into bombs capable of blowing up entire neighborhoods!
If Tomoki doesn't learn to control his impulses around Ikaros and be more careful with his wishes, the chaos will only get crazier. Luckily, even with such a dirty mind, Tomoki's heart is in the right place. His hands, however, are a completely different story.
