Cosplay Encyclopedia...

Years ago, I picked up the VHS version of Cosplay Encyclopedia...
Find out everything that you've always wanted to know about costume play! Akemi Matsuzawa, former anchorwoman of the popular nightly television program Tonight II, presents the ultimate video guide to costume play. Lavishly dressed players gather one after another to let you in on their costume design secrets!

STOP! 'What the heck is CosPlay?' you might be thinking.

Take a crowded convention center; fill it with raving fans; dress those fans in the elaborate costumes of their favorite anime characters; and... BAM! You've got yourself CosPlay. This encyclopedia gives Western anime fans a detailed view of the Japanese CosPlay phenomenon. Featuring characters from some of today's most popular anime series such as Magic Knight Rayearth, Sailor Moon, Sorcerer Hunters and Evangelion... and characters from video game favorites like Soul Blade, Battle Arena Toshinden and Fighting Vipers.
In Cosplay Encyclopedia (as in costume play), follow Akemi Matsuzawa, as she ambushes costumed conventioneers and asks the really tough questions... How much did your costume cost? How long did it take to make? And, do your parents know what you do in your spare time? There are lots of nice costumes, lots of giggling girls, and some really shabby camera-work. Cosplay Encyclopedia is mildly interesting, but, not something I would go out of my way to have. Cosplay Encyclopedia might have been more enjoyable for me, being as cosplay-challenged as I happen to be, if I had some idea which characters I was looking at. I gave Cosplay Encyclopedia a 1 out of 5.
