Devil Hunter Yohko...

Devil Hunter Yohko was one of AD Vision's early releases...
Volume 1
What can you do when you discover that the principal of your high school not only IS an old witch, but that she wants you dead, dead, dead? Or that one of your best friends has been turned into a zombie and another has been possessed by an incubus whose only goal is to deflower you? These are but a few of the many perplexing questions pretty young Yohko Mano must answer after learning that, as the 108th generation of a family of professional demon hunters, she is personally obligated to save all mankind from an invasion of bloodthirsty demons! It's just too bad that nobody bothered to inform her first, before the demons decide to eliminate her before she can become Devil Hunter Yohko! A bizarre animated horror-comedy, Devil Hunter Yohko is a brilliant role reversal parody of the classic vampire/monster-hunter genre. Yes, this time it's the daring young heroine who must rescue the hero from a "fate worse than death" at the hands, (and fangs) of a female succubous! And of course, in order to sway her from her path, the forces of evil must resort to the use of nubile young males! Devil Hunter Yohko: the only film with both killer swimming pools AND Ninja Grandmothers!

Volume 2 and 3
That double breasted damsel with the great big sword is back, and this time, it's the demons who've got trouble! Double trouble, that is. The fun begins with Devil Hunter Yohko 2, when a local shrine is destroyed and our titular heroine must put the vengeful spirits back in their graves. Not only must Yohko contend with possessed puppy dogs and demonic construction equipment, she also gets stuck with training a new "apprentice", Azusa, who shows up unannounced! Yohko's worst problem, however, is the get-rich-quick schemes being hatched by profit minded pal Chigako. Yohko's skills are put to the test when she's kidnapped to a dimension ruled by the Dragon King Ryu-O in Devil Hunter Yohko 3. While Chigako and Azusa search for a way to re-open the door to the demon plane, Yohko must battle harpy, griffon and dragonewt to save the life of Ryu-O's son!

Volume 4
4-Ever!

For all those who can't get enough of the world's most buxom exorcist, here's Devil Hunter Yohko 4-Ever, a special music video compilation featuring an all new "super-deformed" animation, clips from the first three Yohko videos, and live action performances by the original vocal cast!

Volume 5
She's cheated death before, but now bouncy teenage exorcist Yohko Mano steps beyond the veil into the greatest mystery of all! The question is, will her passed-on condition prove permanent? The action begins as all hell literally breaks loose when the master shadow demon possesses the body of Yohko's beloved Hideki, then uses the body of another friend to open the door to the demon plane! By the time Yohko and Grandma realize what's going on, it's way too late and the last two generations of devil hunters find themselves hopelessly outmatched! Yohko doesn't know the meaning of the word "hopeless", however, she'll find some way to stop the forces of evil, even if it literally kills her!

Volume 6
No, you're not seeing double, but pretty young Yohko Mano is! In the all-new Devil Hunter Yohko 6 every fan's favorite devil hunter finally meets her match, only to find that it's her own face she's facing! Confused? Not as confused as Yohko is when a new girl who looks just like Yohko shows up at school and begins infringing on a certain teenage exorcist's private hunting grounds! It's bad enough when this impersonator clone beats Yohko to the punch in putting the moves on a sexy new teacher, but when the Yohko clone starts fighting demons as well, with a young assistant who looks suspiciously like Yohko's own Azusa, things are really getting out of hand! That's not the worst of it, however; it seems that the new "Yohko" and the original agree on only one thing, that their town isn't big enough for two practicing Devil Hunters, and the new girl on the block has no qualms whatsoever about eliminating the old one by any means possible! Can Yohko beat her toughest opponent ever, or will she only end up defeating herself? And what does Grandma's secret past have to do with the origin of this new Anti-Devil Hunter? There's lot's of double trouble ahead as two sexy demon hunters slug in out, Mano to Mano, in Devil Hunter Yohko 6.
Yohko is the newest in a long line of devil hunters. Luckily, there just happen to be a few demons in Yohko's life. There are six parts in the series. Part 4, by the way, is music videos. This was AD Vision's first release. Quite tame compared to other ADV releases. It has a bit of skin, humor and some nice fight scenes. Particularly the last battle sequence in Part 1. I used to have all subtitled VHS volumes, except "4-ever". By the way, after an initial run with Part 4 being packaged separately, Part 4 was later combined with parts 2 and 3. There were probably too many people like me, who just skipped that volume. Sometime after the Ultimate Otaku Fall Cleanup, when the tenth anniversary DVD box set came out, I decided to repurchase the series on DVD. So, now, somewhere in the set, I now have 4-Ever!. Actually, Devil Hunter Yohko has held up surprisingly well over the years. Of all the episodes, I still like the first one best of all. I gave Devil Hunter Yohko a 4 out of 5.
