Many years ago, I came across Project Eden, the big-budget Dirty Pair movie, and I've been hooked ever since...

Kei and Yuri are trouble consultants for the WWWA, known officially as "The Lovely Angels", have gained the unflattering nickname of "The Dirty Pair". They don't actually do anything obscene, but, they do manage to get into a whole lot of trouble. "Project Eden", the big-budget Dirty Pair movie, is my favorite of the three movies. I used to have the movies on dubbed VHS and I enjoyed them enough to repurchase them when they were finally released on DVD. I gave Dirty Pair a 3 out of 5.

The Lovely Angels find themselves trapped in a bizarre arboreal wonderland on the planet Ukbar, where a routine investigation reveals a deadly caper of galactic conquest. As the mystery unfolds, the two special agents tangle with a pair of villains who will stop at nothing in their quest to attain ultimate power. The girls are forced to deal with unexpected psychic attacks, brutal murders, sabotage and wild, improbably mind games as they cope with their formidable adversaries. The finale, a classic chase sequence, zooms by with ferocious vitality and non-stop action.

The Dirty Pair are called in to investigate a mysterious explosion which destroyed an interplanetary space shuttle, as well as to look into the disappearance of a scientist involved in the production of a rare power source. What starts out as a routine investigation quickly escalates into a full-scale campaign to destroy the WWWA's top troubleshooters. Shuttling between three remote planets, the "Dirty Pair" get caught up in a deadly web of intrigue and deceit. And just when the girls think they've got the mystery solved, a new bit of information throws a monkey wrench into their investigations.

In 2141 A.D., galactic travel is possible only through the use of warp engines made of the rare, extremely valuable metal - vizorium. And the purest vizorium comes from Argerna, a world split into rival nations. When "The Dirty Pair" are called to protect Agerna's vizorium mines from monsters, they expect political sabotage. But the monsters are real - and deadly enough to destroy the planet!

Often described as Barbarella meets Beverly Hills 90210, "The Dirty Pair" movies - based on Haruka Takachio's popular science fiction stories - mix fast-paced 22nd century heroics with a wild sense of humor and playful voyeurism. KEI and YURI, known officially as "The Lovely Angels", are two troubleshooters for the WWWA who have gained the unflattering nickname of "The Dirty Pair".
The inspiration for Dirty Pair novels was a visit to Japan by the British Australian SF author A. Bertram Chandler, probably in 1978. On his itinerary was a stop at the young Studio Nue, which Takachiho co-founded. As something to entertain their guest, two of the staffers there, Yuri Tanaka and Keiko Otoguro, hit upon the idea with Takachiho of taking Chandler to a tournament of the All Japan Women's Pro-Wrestling organization, which was a member of the World Women's Wrestling Association (WWWA). The card included the highly-popular wrestling (and singing) team, the Beauty Pair. Something that passed among the foursome during that match led Chandler to remark to Takachiho something to the effect that "the two women in the ring may be the Beauty Pair, but those two with you ought to be called the Dirty Pair...
